Shannon Tews Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 25, 2019.

God loaned the gift of a son, Shannon Arthur Tews, to Robert and Marlene(Kester) Tews when he was born on May 12, 1971, until his death from a heart attack on May 23, 2019.  After graduating from New London High School in 1989, Shannon studied at UW-EauClaire for three years before joining the United States Air Force. During his service in the Air Force, Shannon studied at the University of Southern Mississippi, while serving at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. He graduated and completed his service in 1996.  His career path led him to employment at Secura, Centerline Machine, operating Northbound Trail BP, and was currently employed by Nichols Paper. Shannon enjoyed deer hunting and the camaraderie of the hunting crew, the Dale Duck Inn Cabin in Three Lakes and time spent at the family cabin near Fremont. Shannon attended Calvary Chapel in Appleton.  He was a former member of the Dale Fire and Rescue Department and was a former treasurer. Shannon was actively dedicated to and involved in the Fox Valley Jail Ministry, where his focus was on working to help inmates turn their lives around by sharing the Gospel with them and offering individual Bible study and support for addiction recovery. He was passionate about this program and serviced on the Board of Directors. Shannon was a genuine guy with a kind soul and a heart of gold.  He had a warm smile and cared deeply for his family. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Molly; his brother and best friend, Christopher(Paula)Tews, and his nephews and godsons, Jacob and Nicholas Tews; he is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Shannon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Helen Kester; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Hilda Tews, as well as other relatives. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2019, at 11 AM, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Greenville.  Rev. Dr. Charles Tews and Rev. Jerome Tews will officiate. Burial will be in Dale Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, May 29, from 4-7 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Shannon, our family Sunday night suppers, Packer games and time at the cabin will never be the same without you.  We love and miss you, -Mom and Dad

All of us at FVJM are so sorry for your loss. I have only known Shannon for a short while in my role as office manager and volunteer coordinator for Fox Valley Jail Ministry. We are also sorry we didn't know sooner and didn't make it to the funeral. Shannon was an amazing Christian leader with a servant's heart, so filled with compassion. He was faithfully committed to helping the inmates he met with. He was so committed to helping FVJM grow and be able to reach even more people. We will greatly miss Shannon but we are also filled with joy that he is now in the arms of our Savior and he is enjoying an eternity in heaven with the God whose love he so greatly reflected. Shannon's life touched many others. He will always be remembered by those he helped and those of us who worked with him. When they themselves are reunited with him in heaven someday we will all see the fruits of the work he did. How joy-filled must his heart have been to hear those words, "Well done my good and faithful servant," as he stepped into the arms of Jesus.
Wishing you the peace of Christ,
All of us at Fox Valley Jail Ministries

Bob, Molly and family,
We are so very sorry for the loss of your dear son. No matter the age, no parent should ever have to bury their child. Although we didn't know Shannon, from his obituary we can tell he was a wonderful Christian man who made an impact in many peoples' lives. Even though we know he is in heaven, the loss of his presence here will be deeply grieved. Bill and I want to be there for you in any way we can. We love you!

We are so very sorry you lost your son. We didn't know Shannon well, but he was a really nice neighbor for the 3 years he lived next to us. We always waved & spoke only a few times when we were outside mowing or whatever... Out with our 6 grandkids. We wish we had gotten to know Shannon better.
Again....may only your fondest memories of him carry u & family thru your loss. Many prayers to his family.
Sincerest prayers, Robert & Julie Zalewski

I myself only met him once. He came to Yogi Bear and asked me about the food court we had at that time. He said he was going to start a business.. I didn't know who he was at that time. So sorry for your loss.

Shannon was my childhood partner in crime growing up in Dale, WI. He was my go-to friend for snow forts, for making clubhouses on the farm outback, and together we must have ridden our bicycles for hundreds of miles growing up. While we drifted apart as we grew older and I went off to college, I remember his kind nature, his fundamental goodness and feel lucky to have called him my friend. My deepest condolences for you and your family. All my love, Wendy Smith

I went to UWEC with Shannon. We were roommates his final year at UWEC. We also joined Delta Sigma Phi together. Shannon was such a great guy. Always kind and helpful to people. He was a true friend. While we lost touch over the years, I was able to stay connected to him via Facebook. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful person. My condolences to his friends and family.
