Akron - It is with great sadness, love and grace that we share the passing of our beloved Mother, Sharon Lee (Crawford) Combs on September 14, 2024. Sharon was surrounded by the Love of her family and friends as she made the journey to Heaven. She is survived by her two sisters Sandra (Darrell) Hathaway, Carolyn Sue (Blaine) Wilson and three brothers Stanley (Susan) Crawford, Mike (Karen) Crawford, Wm David (Linda) Crawford, and Sister-in-law Wendy Combs. Also twin sons George & Wm. Tracy Combs, and her grandchildren (Tracy & Amber - Hannah, Madison, Logan), (George & Melissa - Ashlea, Landon, and Ellee). She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary of 51 years, her Father & Mother, Dare & Greta (Dillon) Crawford, and by her brother-in-law Robert Craig Combs.
As most of you that knew her over the years, she was a compassionate, supportive and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She grew up in a small town in West Virginia, just outside Grantsville called Arnoldsburg. She was the youngest of 6 children, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. She was a very talented hair stylist in the Akron area with some very notable clients. She loved tending to her flower garden, especially her roses. She was a very dedicated and involved volunteer in the community for The Soap Box Derby in Akron and serving as Executive Director and President of the Akron Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America for decades. She was also involved in their church, Christ the King Catholic Church in Akron, singing in the Choir for many years and helping with Saturday night Bingo. Mom was a "Spitfire" of a woman, very convicted in her beliefs. Over the last 10+ years, she was our father's caregiver as he dealt with Parkinson's and Dementia. While she battled for decades her own health issues with Lupus. She became involved in their local support group and learned how to live and cope with his diagnosis. But that didn't stop her from loving on her favorite 6 amazing grandchildren, they brought a smile to her face every time she saw them.
Our family wants to share our heart felt gratitude to all our family and friends. Especially, her brother Bill and Aunt Linda and their daughter Margaret for helping care for her the last few months of her beautiful life. Also a special thank you to the numerous doctors, nurses (Nurse Tony) and all of the additional caregivers that took it upon themselves to go above and beyond in care for our mother.
Services will be provided at a later date.
