Sharon Devoy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 10, 2025.
Sharon (Lang) Devoy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in Westminster, South Carolina. She was born on June 5, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN to George and Mary Lang and was the youngest of two daughters.

On November 3, 1956 she married James (Jim) Devoy. They went on to welcome 6 sons and built a life together, moving for Jim's job from Minnesota to Texas, and back to Minnesota before settling in Colorado Springs and later Divide, CO. Sharon had an infectious laugh and a wonderful sense of humor - required for raising 6 boys. She and Jim never shied away from an adventure, and they thoroughly enjoyed their travels around the world and across the country in their RV. Sharon was raised as a devout Catholic, and her faith guided her throughout her life and gave her comfort in the end.

Sharon is survived by 3 sons: James Devoy, Patrick (Teresa) Devoy, and Stephen Devoy; grandchildren Tracy (Larry) Reedy, Kelly (Adam) Poling, James Devoy, Timothy (Cambria) Devoy, Ashley (Jamie) Everhart, Jordan (Kelsey) Devoy, James Robert Devoy, Carissa (Jacob) Rainey, Sean Devoy, and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sister Mary Lang of St. Paul, MN. as well as her dear sisters-in-law Sharon Mills and Nikki (Roger) LaSota in addition to numerous extended members of the family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 67 years, and 3 of their sons: Michael, Timothy, and Christopher Devoy.

Caring for her large family was one of Sharon's favorite activities and her legacy of love will be long remembered. Services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 19th at Our Lady of The Woods Catholic Church, 220 S West St, Woodland Park, CO 80863, followed by a reception in Divide, CO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sharon's name to Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church.

Although, Sharon and I became friends later in life through Billie Kilman, we had a true friendship. I enjoyed talking with her on the phone or seeing her at Bible Study and church. I remember the last time we spoke a week before she left for South Carolina. She called to say "goodbye". I knew I would miss her; however I told her we would be in touch. When you have a special relationship, only distance separates you. Everything else remains the same.
I believe she has been reunited with Jim and her sons again. May you rest in peace my friend.

Sharon was an incredible woman and great friend:) She was always available when I needed to talk to someone. We were church buddies when our husbands couldn't join us at Mass. We were great friends and I miss her very much! Billie

I was privileged to meet and get to know Sharon when she was visiting and later staying with Pat and Teresa. I am their neighbor. Sharon was such a delightful, kind and caring person. I´m blessed to have had the opportunity to know her. We played many a fun card game and that woman could PLAY! She shared her card shark abilities with her son! Sharon and her family are in my daily prayers. I really miss that lovely smile and her kind eyes.

To My Wonderful Mother In Law
I chose your son, never knowing that loving him would also bring me you.
A strong woman with tender words, warm hugs, and tons of love to share.
A woman who took me into her heart, and home, and loved me without a pause. Always making me feel so comfortable and treating me as if I were your own daughter. Thank you for welcoming me into your family with open arms. I truly appreciated all of your love, support and kindness. I´m so lucky to have had you in my life. Thank You
