Sharon DiCarlo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 6 to Mar. 7, 2023.
On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, Sharon (Linskey) DiCarlo of Jessup, MD passed away at the age of 55 surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Sharon was born on November 7, 1967 in Englewood, NJ to the Late Margaret (Peggy) and Harold Linskey. Growing up in Old Tappan, NJ, Sharon learned how to shower and brush her teeth in record time while sharing one bathroom with, not only her parents, but also with her 5 siblings: Jane (Dennis) Loh of Ringoes, NJ; Trisha (David) Shaw of Palm Bay, FL; Eileen (Fred) Stinner of Branchburg, NJ; Michael Linskey of NY, NY; and Stephen (Andrea) Linskey of Mount Olive, NJ.

Sharon graduated with the Class of 1985 from Northern Valley Regional High School - Old Tappan. She then started her college career at Glassboro State College, but when Sharon's parents moved to Myrtle Beach, SC in 1987, she followed and enrolled in Coastal Carolina University from which she graduated in 1990. Post-graduation, Sharon worked in the hotel/hospitality business in Myrtle Beach, but she and her family returned to New Jersey in 1992.

Sharon began working with Verizon Wireless and lived in NJ for several years, but in 2004 Verizon Wireless relocated her down to Columbia, MD. It was in Maryland where Sharon met and married Dave DiCarlo of Jessup, MD. Sharon became a loving step-mom to Dave's children: Andrew (Elizabeth) of Roanoke, VA; Joseph (Keyara) of Roanoke, VA; and Patrick of Roanoke, VA. Sharon and David also adopted several fur babies (cats/kittens) on whom she doted.

Not only was Sharon a devoted wife, step-mom, and a beloved sister, Sharon loved and was loved by her many nieces, grandnieces, nephews, and grandnephews. Aunt Sharon never forgot a birthday and always made the holidays special. All the kids always looked forward to the annual Easter Egg Hunt because Aunt Sharon was in charge of stuffing the eggs. Also, a family party just wasn't complete until Aunt Sharon arrived with her buffalo chicken wings.

Sharon underwent a successful liver transplant in December 2021, and her family is eternally grateful to her donor/donor's family for choosing organ donation. Unfortunately, Sharon developed an aggressive form of endometrial cancer, which was just too much for her immune-compromised body to fight and she succumbed to her illness on January 24, 2023. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers her family requests that you please consider a donation in memory of Sharon to the American Liver Foundation (liverfoundation.org) or to The American Cancer Society (cancer.org). Additionally, please consider becoming an organ donor.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held at The Hilton Garden Inn located at 8241 Snowden River Parkway, Columbia, MD on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11am. Luncheon immediately following at the Victoria Gastro Pub located at 8201 Snowden River Parkway, Columbia, MD.

Hi, I grew up w/Sharon in Old Tappan. She was kind, witty & funny. I´m sad that last time I spoke w/ her was @ our 10 yr. High School reunion. I would´ve liked to hang out with Sharon again. My deep sympathy & prayers to the Linskey family.

Sharon was a complete joy to work with and to know. I will miss her kindness and buffalo chicken dip. A sweet soul who will be truly missed.
