I just had a strong urge to contact Sharon. I called her Rose a Sharn for Rose of Sharon from Grapes of Wrath. We performed together at New Jersey Shakespeare Festival in 1972. I'm very sorry for your loss, Joe. What a bright shining light she was.

I didn't know Sharon all that well from Op. Grat. but enough to sense an incredibly warm, positive, compassionate vibrant lovely woman. My heart goes out to her family. I, and I'm sure everyone else at the Van Nuys armory will miss her very much.

Bill and I feel very blessed to have made such wonderful friends at Operation Gratitude. Sharon was a fun friend who always had a smile and kind word for everyone. She never complained about her illness and most people never even knew she was fighting cancer. Sharon was a most courageous woman with a zest for life that was unequaled. Rest in Peace, Dear Friend! You will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you!

I knew Sharon from our college days at Ashland. What a fun and funny friend she was. I have tried for several years to find a way to contact her (even sent an email to her son), but never did. I was trying again today, and about fainted when I saw the obit. I still have a Christmas card from her from the early '70's ( after her toilet paper commercial). I am so sorry for your loss and I am so sorry I didn't get a chance to reconnect to her.
Bless you all!!

We met performing in Sondheim's Company thirty years ago. We had each of our children one month apart from each other. Sharon and her husband, Joe, and my husband Mike, and I shared many dinners and laughter together. Sharon possessed a wonderful sense of humor. In recent years, I've been assisting with her Scarves for Soldiers through Operation Gratitude. She was dedicated to getting a scarf with a note to each soldier. I miss her greatly. I feel blessed to have known Sharon and to have her in my life. All my love to her family.

Sharon was an incredible person and so dedicated to her "scarf ladies" at Operation Gratitude. Her presence is greatly missed by us all - she was truly loved.

Sharon always greeted me with a big smile and a warm hug. I will miss her enthusiasm and kindness. Her efforts to have a scarf in every Care Package to our troops is, no doubt, just one of many selfless things she did. She will be in my heart forever.

Sharon was my fun buddy from Operation Gratitude. We both liked the Moody Blues so we sang some of their songs together. Sharon started the Scarves for Soldiers Program for Operation Gratitude in which volunteers knit scarves to put into the care packages. She and her best friend Elaine made sure that close to 50,000 scarves made it into those packages sent to our troops each Holiday Drive. Sharon put others before herself, always wore a smile, had a great sense of humor and was just a really wonderful soul to hang out with. Along with all the fun and laughs we also shared similar metaphysical beliefs. Because of this I know someday we'll be singing together; "Lovely to see you again my friend, walk alongside me to the next bend..."
