Sharon (Mason) Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 4, 2024.
Sharon Lynn (Mason) Smith passed away peacefully on Thursday January 25th 2024 after a long battle with Dementia and Alzheimer's. She was 76 years old.

Sharon was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on December 25th 1947. She moved to Camas, Washington when she was 3. She graduated from Camas High School in 1966 with honors. She went on to Emanuel Nursing school to pursue becoming a nurse. She graduated from nursing school in 1969. Sharon went to work for Emanuel Hospital right after graduating from nursing school. She worked in the Family Birth Center and post-partum unit caring for the mothers after they had their baby. She was at Emanuel and in the same unit for 29 years until 1998.

Sharon met the love of her life, Michael (Mike) Smith, in Portland, OR. They were married on June 20th, 1970. They had 2 children, Alicia and Bryan. She and Mike and the kids settled down in Milwaukie, Oregon where they raised their family for over 20 years. Soon after moving to Milwaukie, the family started attending Milwaukie Presbyterian Church where Sharon was involved in various church activities and was a member for many years.

Sharon loved to travel with her family. She went on many camping trips when her kids were younger and enjoyed the outdoors. She loved hiking and backpacking. She was an avid supporter of Mike's softball and went on countless camping trips with the team. She traveled along with the team to destination away games up until she was no longer able. She and Mike, later in life, went on many wonderful vacations with one being a highlight trip to Europe.

Sharon enjoyed crafts, sewing and putting together photo albums. She was very artistic. She loved anything having to do with Suzy's Zoo. She always enjoyed decorating her house for the holidays and made sure everyone's holiday or birthday was special.

Sharon cared for her grandchildren Ariel, Avery, Brady and Colin while their parents were working. She always made sure to allow time for teaching and learning and crafts. She helped mold her Grandchildren into the young adults they are today.

Sharon is survived by her Husband Mike Smith of Milwaukie, OR; Daughter Alicia Marshall of Gladstone, OR; Son Bryan Smith of Oregon City, OR; Granddaughters Ariel and Avery Marshall; Grandsons Brady and Colin Smith and Brother Gordon Mason of Camas, WA.
