Sharon Piotrowski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 12 to Jan. 13, 2009.
Piotrowski, Sharon
(Tanner)
Essexville, Michigan

Sharon Tanner Piotrowski left this world to be reunited with the Love of her life, Larry, on Sunday, January 11, 2009. During Sharon's lifetime, she received an enormous amount of love from her family and friends. Age 64 years, she was born to the late James L. and Marion (Langevine) Tanner June 1, 1944 in Bay City and resided in the area all her life. On June 15, 1963, Sharon married Lawrence J. Piotrowski in Our Lady of the Visitation Church and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2002. She leaves two wonderful sons, Ken (Tammy) Piotrowski and Kyle (Jen, Stacie) Piotrowski; along with seven delightful grandchildren, Whitney, Julia, Erica, Hannah, Drew, Ryan, and Zoe. Also surviving is a devoted sister, Mary Ellen (Ken) Miller; brother, Jim Tanner; and sister, Carol Norman (Maureen); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janie (Phil) Ouillette and Jerry (Nancy) Piotrowski; special friend (since fourth grade), Joyce Petrimoulx; as well as many loving and caring nieces and nephews, especially Ashley Mazzarese; and a great niece and goddaughter, Macy Ireland.
Sharon was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Essexville, where she participated in their activities, including serving as a bereavement facilitator for many years. She was currently employed with Pride & Country, working with many "angels", and was recently trained as a hospice volunteer (Brian's House). Sharon and her husband were the first couple to be Parade Marshals for the local St. Patrick's Day Parade. She was also a former member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians St. Bridgid O The Bay.
The Piotrowski and Tanner families would like to express their deep appreciation to Bay Regional Medical Center, especially the Neurointensive Care Unit, Dr. Wm. Lawrence, Dr. T. Ahmed, and nurses, Justin and Frannie. They are also indeed grateful to Hospice-Bay and nurse, Tiffany.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pine & Hudson Streets, Essexville. She will lie in state in the church chapel Thursday after 9:30 a.m. Rev. Robert J. DeLand will preside and Rite of Committal will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Kawkawlin. In lieu of flowers, it was Sharon's wish that you take a friend to lunch and tell them things you often think of after they are gone. Visiting hours are Wednesday at the church from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the Vigil Service for Sharon at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.

Ken, Tammy and family,

We are so very sorry on the loss of your Mother & Grandmother.

We will always remember her on the sidelines cheering for Ryan and all of his teammates. We will never forget her gift she gave to each parent at the end of a soccer season last year...it was pictures of our children playing soccer all nicely wrapped in blue ribbon.

She always had a very beautiful and warm smile.

May she rest in peace.

To all of Sharon's Family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Sharon was such a great example of how to live you life with God as your guide. She was such a great teacher to myself and others. I will greatly miss her asking me what is the good word of the day. I will never forget asking her how she was and her response was "Its another day to make it right". She really helped me through a difficult time last year and I will forever be greatful for that. I will truly miss her but I know that she will be watching over all of us everyday.
The quote Sharon would end all her annoucements with at work was "God Bless America" I will miss that.

To the Tanner/Piotrowski families: I just learned of Sharon's passing and my heart breaks. While we have not spent a great deal of time together in recent years, we have spent lots of time together in the past.
Sharon has always been such a positive, upbeat person...so infectious. Even when life dealt it's miserable blows, Sharon managed a smile. My last meeting with Sharon was in Meijer where we chatted in the aisle for probably nearly an hour. I was able to explain to her the horrible circumstances of my mother's death and she stood there and cried with me. I know she held a special place for my mom as my mom did her. How ironic that she is buried on my mother's birthday, January 15th.
We must take joy knowing she is free of this world and now with Larry, her parents and all the others she has missed. My deepest sympathies to each of you. God bless you

to sharon's family and friends,
i was shocked to hear of my old dear friend, i have such fond memories of larry and sharon, we were in the photo business together, we all had something to learn from one another, sharon managed to manage me and larry, i live in grand rapids and have been here for 23 years, and i never made friends like larry and sharon, her memory and her kind generous nature
will never leave me, that is the way i will remember her.

To Sharon's Family:
I will always remember Sharon from my days of shopping at Hallmark in Hampton Mall. Going in to visit with the original gang of Sharon, Sandy, and Rosemary and later Janie was always pleasant. I always made sure I went when I had ample time as we would always get to chatting about something. Sharon was always a very pleasant person and always had a smile and greeting when she saw you. Although I didn't know her as well as some, reading the guest book makes me wish I knew her better but at the same time I knew her well enough to know I will never forget her. She brightened the world, and while she is now reunited with Larry and brightening Heaven, her memories will continue to shine here on earth. I hope knowing how many lives she touched and how special she was to so many people will some how bring you comfort and give you strength at this time of loss. God Bless you all.

Ashley,
As childhood friends, I remember coming over to play and your Aunt Sharon was either there, or on the phone, or mentioned in conversation in some way. She seemed almost like a second mom to you. She was always so kind and genuinely caring--she had a way of making everybody feel special. I couldn't be there but wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and your family.

Mary Ellen - I don't know what to say except I'm so sorry. I was so shock when I saw this. I have many memories of Sharon when I was growing up, and you and I going to her house in Essexville. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

To the family of Sharon, Sharon and I started at Pride & Country on the same day - 5-15-03. For that reason and many others. We relied on each other to learn the computer system etc. She often shared pictures and stories of her grandchildren. She was always so proud of her children and grandchildren. And always took interest in yours. She gave me a mug that said. (Friends like you are Precious and Few) And friends like Sharon are so PRECIOUS and few. We are all blessed to have known her. We will have to remember to share the love she showed us. May God be with you as you hold each other up. Our Lord has a special place for her and she will help him decorate it.

I was so sad to read about your mother's passing. Though I didn't know her well, she always took the time to smile, say "hello," and make me feel as if we both brightened each other's day.
She and your dad did so much for this community and made such an impact for their short time here on earth. Their efforts will be appreciated for years to come.

It was my privilege to have worked with Sharon and to have been at the receiving end of her friendship and love. I have often complained that they made too few people like Sharon--that they threw out the molds when finished, and I wondered why. Now that Sharon has gone home to her God in heaven and her Larry, I think I know now why the molds are thrown away. People like Sharon are far and few between, a much-too-rare treasure. But the time they spend with us here on earth is meant to teach us what they already know and live by their example. They are our molds, and we are to learn and absorb and be touched by them, and then, in return, pass it on. Sharon was the most wonderful version of an angel on earth I have been blessed to know. Her joy, compassion, loving and caring nature was her--the real thing. She gave of it freely and in large quantity to anyone and everyone. And by doing so, it grew by leaps and bounds in everyone she touched. Now it is up to us to carry on. What a teacher she was! How blessed we all are to have had her in our lives. She will be missed greatly in our everyday lives, but our hearts and souls rejoice and celebrate in her new residence!

Having worked with Sharon, I knew her to be
God's angel. She had the most cheerful, radiant smile. She truly was a gift from God.
She always remembered our birthdays with a cake and one of her handmade cards with a picture she had taken. She also never missed a holiday to decorate the breakroom. She was an excellent example of how God wants us to live our lives. She was a cheerful giver. God's blessings Sharon!

Dearest Piotrowski's, Tanner's, Norman's, Miller's, Ouilette's, and friends of Sharon:

For the first time since 1/7/09, I've been going through cards Sharon sent to me, and this is but a small collection of her words. Some were also spoken with great tenderness and/or enthusiasm.

- God forgives you like your mother.
- Every person has a need to be forgiven.
-The best gifts are tied with our heartstrings.
- A friend comes when everyone else leaves.
- A successful marriage is much more than finding the right person; it is being the right person.
- Never ask a woman her age.
- I'm so glad I went, and so glad I'm back at 807!
- I love Larry.
- I miss Larry.
- I am so proud of my boys!
- I am so proud of my grandchildren!
- We can't keep trouble from our door, but we don't have to give it a chair to sit on!
- Be kind, for everyone is fighting a hard battle.
- I am blessed.
- Time, Joyce, time - - time heals, but prayer is the wheels.
- Family is everything.
- Be still...
- Less of me, more of thee.
- We danced like old times!
- My Mom made the best creampuffs!
- Papa would know what to do.
- God Bless America.

See you in Heaven, sweet friend
xoxo JoJo

Dear Piotrowski Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We met Sharon through our "angel" daughter Shelly a few years ago while Shelly was waiting for a heart transplant. Sharon became a special friend right away and continued to be a support to our family after Shelly went to be with her Lord in heaven at the age of 8 1/2. But we know that Sharon is in heaven 'dancing' with Larry and Shelly!! How envious we are!!!! Sharon will dearly be missed. Love, Mark & Judi Bash

To all who loved Sharon:

Sharon was one of God's greatest examples of how to live your life. Her entire life was dedicated to making people, more positive, happier, being kinder and more accepting of everyone. She was a true Christian and led by faith and example. Now that she is with the Love of her life, Larry, and our Lord and Savior, Jesus, those of us left behind, are left with the opportunity to pass along the lessons she freely shared with all that knew her. Sharon was a teacher that taught all who loved her. It is our turn to be more like her and bring smiles to so many, as she did. With Love, Barry Rankin
