Sharon Poulin O'Connell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 9, 2025.
Sharon Marie Poulin O'Connell was born in Hartford, Connecticut, to Susan and Joseph Poulin on Mother's Day of 1967. She grew up in Coventry, Connecticut, alongside her brothers, David and Steven. Their home was filled with creativity and joy, hosting tea parties, dance parties, and haunted houses each Halloween. Sharon had a passion for gymnastics and served as the captain of her high school cheerleading team. She was immensely proud of graduating at the top of her class from Katharine Gibbs in Boston.

In 1995, she moved to San Francisco, California, bringing with her a deep love for all things Boston. There, she built a life rich with family, friends, work, and adventure.

Sharon is survived by her beloved children, Charles, Caroline, and Camille Marie. She is also survived by her brothers, David Poulin and his wife, Kathleen, along with their son, Axel; and Steven Poulin and his wife, Elizabeth, with their sons, Zachary, Tyler, and Seth.

She passed away on February 1, 2025, in San Francisco. A private memorial service will be held in her honor.

I'll miss you, friend, and our shared love of the Red Sox, a good lobster roll, hunting for treasures at the French Market and gallons of tea. May you rest in peace.

We love you Sharon. Remembering you as a happy bubbly big sister. Made us laugh as you made a skit on Christmas using our children and your brothers as a true Nativity with our youngest as baby Jesus Rest in peace

We had the best times with Sharon during our years as moms at St. Cecilia´s grammar school in San Francisco. Always fun, knowing she was a cheerleader makes a lot of sense. She was a beloved friend and mother. Fly high dear Sharon.

Sharon was 11 years older than me and therefore my first crush. She was fun and funny and energetic and had dimples and a great laugh. She was fun to be around especially as a kid. I was always excited to know the Poulins were coming g over for the holidays or to the lake. I knew it would be special just to be around them. I pray she is at peace and I´ll always carry a picture of her smiling face in my memory.

Over 40 years ago when my wife Shirley and I first married we live in Connecticut some 45 minutes from Coventry. My wife´s aunt and uncle, Susan and Joe would invite us over for dinner from time to time over a weekend. We were always very excited to visit, filled with anticipation knowing there would be much love and laughter with Sharon, David and Stephen providing personal antics. We have many memories of the Poulin family, the one that sticks out for me is Sharon doing some of her acrobatics on the front lawn. Graceful and artistic, she loved her gymnastics!
We love you Sharon and miss you!

Our moms met in the library, and the love that was planted there remains. I remember re-enacting the Christmas Story for our families and fancy, home-made dollhouses in that little alcove of your parents´ house when we were little. I remember being invited to your 70´s themed house party (so excited to be included) and the ridiculously wrong shoes you wore for our hike in Muir Woods when we were a bit more grown up. The books that were bigger than Charlie when he was born and the sparkle in your eye for your daughters. I will miss the light you brought with your surprise packages, and I pray that you find peace and eternal rest. I love you my friend.
