Sharon (nee Folley) Whitmore

Sharon Mae Whitmore (nee Folley), 71, of Grafton and formerly of Elyria, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. She was born April 25, 1944 in Elyria. Sharon and her husband Denton were foster parents to over 200 children through Lorain County Children Services, The 12, and Cuyahoga County Children Services. She enjoyed spending time on the farm, Whitmore's Whispering Acres, and enjoyed raising mini horses. Sharon was also a homemaker, candy maker, bus driver for Murray Ridge, and was employed at Clarkin's Department Store in Elyria. She is a Cancer survivor after battling Hodgkins Disease from 1967-1977. She loved her dogs and horses, everything that was Elvis, and collecting memorabilia of the Pillsbury Doughboy. Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, care giver of her mother Eleanor Folley, her best friend Marsha, and adults with special needs. Mrs. Whitmore is survived by her children Robin Zimberlin (Curtis) of Wakeman, Matthew J. Whitmore of Grafton, Shannon L. Whitmore (Teresa) of Elyria, Colleen Churchill, Heather Russell (Scott), Rebecca Whitmore, Chanity Matheney, April Whitmore, Justin Whitmore, Joseph Whitmore, Bryon Reagan, Brianna Whitmore, David Horosz (Julie), Diane Stolar; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Don Folley Jr., (Carolyn) of Florida, Terry Folley (Debbie) of Elyria, Jessie M. Smith (Jeff) of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Denton L. Whitmore, Sr.; son Denton L. Whitmore Jr.; parents Donald and Eleanor Folley (nee Helling). A Memorial Service will be 4pm Friday, May 8 at Henrietta United Methodist Church, State Route 113, Amherst. Reverend Armando C. Arellano, Pastor of Henrietta UMC and Reverend Richard Haluska, Chaplain of Grace Hospice will co-officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Whitmore Memorial Fund at any First Merit Bank office (please note the change).
