Phoenix - Sheila R. Davis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated social worker, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born on August 13, 1941, Sheila spent nearly her entire life in Phoenix, AZ. After earning her MSW, she devoted her career to Child Protective Services, retiring as a respected supervisor of the Intake Unit.

In 1963, Sheila married the love of her life, William (Bill) James Davis Sr. Their 61-year marriage was blessed with three children: William James (Jim) Davis Jr., Elisabeth (Lisa) Ann Davis, and April Davis Meyeres.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas (Harry) Ray and Elizabeth (Betty) Ray, and her beloved daughter, Lisa. She is survived by her husband, Bill; her son Jim and his wife Holly; her daughter April and her husband Casey; seven cherished grandchildren-Jillian, Chase, Marshall, Colin, Bryn, Cason, and Ella-and one great-grandchild, Benson. She is also survived by her sister, Judy (Frank), and her brother, Terry (Wilai).

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery.

Back in 1973 we were newly graduated MSWs from Indiana University that moved to Arizona. Our first jobs were with CPS. Sheila was a role model, mentor, and valued colleague. Rest in peace Sheila.
