Sheila HOWLETT Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 22, 2002.
HOWLETT, Sheila In her own home and bathed in the love of her family and friends, Sheila Howlett, passed peacefully from our lives on Saturday, December 21, 2002. Married for 46 years to CWO (ret) Fred Howlett, Sheila 66 years, was the bedrock in our travelling military family. She kept her sons and husband nourished and loved throughout 30 years of travel across Canada and Europe. Hot lunches, warm hugs, lists of things to do and a wonderful sense of humour typified our mother. United in sadness are her husband Fred, her sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Wanda Howlett, David and Barbara Howlett, Todd and Katie Howlett, Richard and Wanda Howlett. The ultimate Nana, Sheila dispensed snacks, games and hugs with equal regularity. Granddaughters Danielle, Rachel, Rebekah, Sarah and Olivia and grandson Scott will miss their loving and devoted Nana. Some sisters are born into a family and some find each other later in life. Sheila's sister, the woman who stood for years by her side then sat for days by her bed is Edith Eaglesome. If a person's character is judged by the quality of her friends, our mother was indeed blessed. Our gratitude also goes to Sheila's family doctor, Dr. Bourassa, her palliative care physician, Dr. Coulombe, and her nurses Anick Raymond, Carol Joseph, Diane Turner and Charlene O'Doherty. A peaceful death in familiar surroundings was made possible by your tender and expert ministrations. A brief service will be held at St. Alban's Church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday on December 22, 2002. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. "That's OK Daddy, now you have a mommy in Heaven" - Rebekeh Howlett, age 4
