Sheila Jordan Obituary
She was a jazz singer known for her dynamic improvisation and scat singing.
Jordan is being remembered as an NEA Jazz Master and as "the lady with the million-dollar ears," a nickname given to her by jazz great Charlie Parker.

Sheila, you were literally the only person who encouraged me to sing and i perform today and you are always a huge inspiration and my one and only supporter of getting out there and doing what my heart and soul loves. I send my condolences to her family and friends. I listened to her in my early years up until now, she was my favorite singer of all time. The best voice in my opinion and one of the greatest scat singers ever. Her talent and beautiful music will truly be missed. RIP Ms.Jordan, your legacy lives on in our memories forever.

I was saddened to read about Sheila´s passing. I had the great privelege of chatting with her via email a couple of years ago. My connection with her was not about her music, but about her time growing in Summerhill, Pennsylvania, which is where I grew up a couple of generations later.
It was clear - even via email - that she was both a lovely and loving woman.
To her family, friends, and collaborators: please accept my deep condolences as you work to adjust to a world without Sheila´s beautiful personality and voice in it.
