Shelley Gross Obituary

Shelley passed away peacefully with close family at her side. She bravely fought cancer for over a year.
Born in Chicago, Ill., she moved to Portland with her family when she was 9. Shelley attended St. Pius grade school and St. Mary's of the Valley. She worked in the medical and dental fields while raising her daughters Emily and Molly in Northwest Portland. Known to be a prolific giver, Shelley was always the smiling center of attention and leader of the pack. Eventually becoming an accomplished quilter, she never met a craft store that she didn't like. Shelley enjoyed traveling and having fun, but above all loved spending time with her four grandchildren. She was happiest being around her loving close-knit family.
Shelley is survived by her husband, Joe; parents, Ray and Britt McNamee; daughters, Emily (Casey) and Molly (Nate); stepson, Jack; her grandchildren, Chloe, Lauren, Layla, and Carson; sister, Desiree (Mark); and brother, Shawn (Kalee).
A funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 1280 N.W. Saltzman Rd. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Vincent's Passage Quilters/Providence Foundation.

Shelley Rae was my childhood. From grade school, playing sports together to high school to our weddings and having babies together. She was always the most beautiful woman inside and out. It was an honor to call her one of my best friends and she will forever be missed .

I've just finished watching Shelley's funeral mass online from my home in Ireland. I'm so saddened to hear of Shelley's untimely passing and hope that her family and loved ones will gain comfort in time.

There are no words for the grief we feel about Shelley. We will always cherish the great times we had while growing up and raising families of our own.
