Shelly Louise Kersch, born on June 29, 1959, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away on January 23, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida.

She was a proud grandmother to Abigail Edwards, Scarlett Wilchar, Madeline Edwards, and Stella Wilchar. Shelly was the cherished daughter of John and Helen Hyatt and a beloved sister to Debra Leonard (Mike) and David Hyatt. She was predeceased by her mother, Helen.

With over 45 years of dedication to the Property and Casualty insurance industry, Shelly built a distinguished career defined by her unwavering commitment and professionalism. Outside of her work, she found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and creating treasured memories with her grandchildren. Shelly also had a deep love for music and delighted in attending Taylor Swift concerts whenever possible.

Shelly will be remembered for her radiant positivity and warmth. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone she met feel like family, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence brought light and joy to every room she entered.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Spanish Point Clubhouse, 1907 Tomas Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32225, on February 22, 2025, at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lustgarten Foundation in her honor.

I first met Shelly in 2019 when I joined MSA and moved to FL. She was so welcoming and willing to help me with ANY questions I had. Shelly was always light-hearted and just so easy to be around. She cared about her co-workers and always knew how to make people laugh. I feel so fortunate that I am able to call Shelly a co-worker and friend. She will be missed greatly but she's left us all with memories that will last forever.

Shelly was my key contract for years at MainStreet America and was always prompt and attentive to my needs and a great educator of processes and procedures. She will be dearly missed.

Shelly was an exceptional underwriter for our agency for almost 15 years, but she was an even better person. I´ll always remember how well she balanced trying to figure out ways to work together on accounts, while also bluntly declining when she knew it was not possible. This saved us both a lot of wasted time! She was such a genuine person, and we never finished a meeting without updates on our families and stories of fun concerts and vacations. We will miss her.

Shelly was the type of person who could light up a room with her smile and make you laugh until you cry. She was a top tier teammate and I am honored and privileged to have worked with her these last few years. We will make sure someone continues to ask the hard hitting "Shelly questions" in our meetings! - Jonathan Turner
