Kearney resident, 82

KEARNEY - Luella M. Kutsch, 82, of Kearney died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Duane Duley officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services and one hour before services Monday at the church.

She was born June 1, 1930, in Pleasanton to Ralph and Clara (Mueller) Lammers.

On June 4, 1950, she married Lloyd L. Kutsch. He died in 1998.

Survivors include her son, Daniel Kutsch and his wife, Joy, of Kearney; daughter, Patricia Catterson and her husband, James, of Kearney; grandchildren, Timothy and Tanya Catterson, Scott and Sharon Catterson, Robert Kutsch and Teddy Kutsch and friend Tammy; five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Lammers of Los Gatos, Calif.; and sisters, Nora Erickson of Kearney and Arlene Lammers of Glenwood, Iowa.

She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1947 and then briefly attended college.

Luella and Lloyd were married at the Peake Church north of Riverdale. The couple farmed in the Amherst and Sumner areas until 1966 and moved to Kearney in 1976.

Luella worked a number of jobs, including Mother Hull Home, Kaufmann-Wernert's craft department, the Buffalo County Assessor's Office and also at Hardee's.

She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, the Holy Cross Quilters club and Midway Kensington Club. Luella enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts and quilting, especially with the Holy Cross ladies. She also enjoyed time spent with family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Kutsch in 1988; brother, Walter Lammers; and sisters, Rumilda Hemenway and Martha Hadwiger.

Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice, care of the family.

Patty and Danny, once your mother and father moved to Amherst they were always kind to my Grandma Czenkusch. She enjoyed them as neighbors and was sad when they moved to Kearney. I enjoyed working with your mother Jan-Feb of 1971 as assistant to her and the County Assessor. My condolences to you and your family.
