Sherman Jones Obituary
Sherman D. Jones Sr. of the Town of Chenango, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Elizabeth Church Manor. Sherman was born on December 17, 1925 in Williams Port, PA., he was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Catharine and a daughter, Lori. Sherman is survived by a son, and two daughters, many grand and great grandchildren also a sister and many nieces and nephews. Sherman was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of WW II having served in Germany. He was a long time member of the Central Baptist Church where was also a member of the choir. Sherman retired after 39 years of service with Link Flight Simulation/ Lockheed Martin. He enjoyed many different activities and was an avid outdoors man. At Sherman's personal request this obituary was to be brief. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY 13901 and burial will follow in the Chenango Valley Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. With great sincerity the family wishes to thank all the staff of Elizabeth Church Manor for the loving and compassionate care Sherman received.

Cousin Sherman,
So very sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. He will be missed by his sister, Carolyn , and by his nieces and nephew, Susan, Jeff, Mindy and Amy . Sherman, you were a great comfort to your dad and you are in our thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy and love to Duane's family . He was my first cousin and he and his sister,Carolyn, spent many summers with us on the farm near Little Meadows when we were all kids . Have only happy memories of those years. I am happy that I was able to visit him this past year . My thoughts especially to Duane 's son, Sherman , who has always been by his Dad's side as a friend, companion and caretaker !
