Sherry Ann Poe, age 52, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. She was born on September 25, 1962 to Edward Paul and Verda Lee Gann of Kansas City, Missouri. Sherry attended N.K.C. High School, graduating in 1981. She grew up attending Avondale Baptist Church where she made a profession of Faith and was baptized.
Sherry had two children, Sara Ann Poe and Zachary Levi Poe; and significant other, Ron Neitch, who she was happily committed to for more than 20 years. Her children, grandchildren, family, and friends brought her the greatest joy. She was quick to give a smile, laugh, hug or to lend a hand. Sherry adored her seven grandchildren, Jayden, Evan, Cody, Candace, Ethan, Zaylin, and Lucius, who called her “Nana”.
Sherry was a C.N.A. for a number of years caring for people in their homes. She also helped care for friends and her mother while she was on hospice care. She was a very compassionate person.
She enjoyed doing many things in life, but one of her favorite things was camping. She grew up camping quite often with her parents and sister, and later with many of her friends. Sitting around a campfire visiting with friends and family brought her happiness. Sherry was proceeded in death by her mother Verda Gann. Sherry is survived by her father Paul Gann; significant other, Ron Neitch; sister Lisa Durfey and brother-in-law, Randy Durfey of Clarinda Iowa; son, Zachary Poe of Kansas City; daughter, Sara Poe of Lee’s Summit; seven grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. Our memories of Sherry will live on in our hearts forever, and the kindness, love, and compassion she shared will be passed down for generations to come.
A Home Going Celebration for Sherry A. Poe will be at Avondale Baptist Church, 2501 NE Parvin Rd. Officiating, Reverend Jerry Breese, Saturday, August 8, 2015. Visitation at 10:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM.

Sherry..
A genuine and sweet and loving and kind and beautiful soul and friend. Her and I had developed quite a bond over the years.. because we shared a best friend between us. Our Nikki. I'm hurting for all of her friends and family. This was completely unexpected and sudden. But I'm happy to know that I got to know her. And I admire her and huge, beautiful heart. She is genuinely a good human being and loving person. I know she cared deeply for everyone she loved. I've never heard anything but kind words from her, or about her. And that is a rare quality these days.. I feel blessed to have known her and for finding such a beautiful rare treasure in a world full of fake gold. You will be missed Sherry Poe. But we will see you again. Till then, I know you will be watching over everybody like you always have. Xoxo
