Sheryl MARTINSON Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 14 to Nov. 19, 2017.
of Chisago City, Minnesota Died on the 11th of November 2017 of complications resulting from a fall. She was 68 years old. Sheryl was born in Cokato, Minnesota, on the 19th of March 1949 to Francis and Florence (Josephson) Martinson who farmed in Cokato and Freedom, Minnesota. She grew up tending chickens and slopping hogs. Sheryl graduated from Little Falls High School, homecoming queen, St. Cloud University magna cum laude, and St. Thomas University. Licensed as a doctorate level psychologist she served the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet and many others in her private practice after she left the directorship of psychiatric services at HealthEast-St. Joseph's Hospital. Sheryl's first love was always her family and friends. She will live in the hearts of all those who loved her: Jim Lammers, her partner and husband of 25 years; children: Lori Anderson and Kristi (and Rob) Hinsch, Kathi Osmonson, Mark Lammers; grandchildren: Zachary and Katie Anderson, Landri, Camryn, Parker, Tenley and Brekin Hinsch, Taylor and Bry Osmonson; siblings: Tom (and Cookie) Martinson, Jerry (and Donna) Martinson, Stacy Martinson; nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Sheryl's charismatic enthusiasm, adventurous spirit and undying energy captured the hearts of all who knew her. She traveled to many parts of the world and read insatiably. Enthralled with Victorian history, she hunted for and decorated with antiques of that period. Sheryl was an expert at reupholstering and rescuing vintage furniture. She had an outrageous sense of humor and loved to throw memorable parties and dinners for family and friends. Cooking was a passion and sewing, particularly repairing grandkids toys and clothes, kept her busy. Above all Sheryl was always loving, fair and generous-she gave of herself. Sheryl was a natural leader-president of Minnesota Victorian Society, chair of the HealthEast Foundation's fund drive, first woman chair of the Little Falls United Way, first women member of Morrison County Housing and Redevelopment Agency, Little Falls Jaycee chapter president and chair of Individual Development Program for which she received national recognition. She was a member of the steering committee and treasurer of Minnesota Women Psychologists and a member of Minnesota Licensed Psychologists and the American Association for Counseling and Development. Sheryl served on the board of Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, where she organized a Victorian tea held annually for many years, and she co-chaired the Committee on 'Strange and Unusual Events'. She was a board member of the Chisago County Historical Society and docented at the Governor's Residence. Sheryl had great love for flowers of all sorts but especially daisies. After moving to Chisago County in 1992 she became a Master Gardener and planted varieties of flowers all around the farm. Her theme songs were 'Somewhere over the Rainbow, where the dreams that you dreamed of really do come true' and 'Dream the Impossible Dream, to reach the unreachable star.' Sheryl was a strong woman. No formal services at this time per Sheryl's wishes.

Thinking about you as Sheryl's family and friends and reminiscing on what a beautiful caring person she was. I also remembered the heartache and responsibilities that she had as a teen and yet always putting up a front that everything is okay. May you be resting in Jesus' Presence dear friend.

Dear family and friends, it is with a sadden heart that I share my thoughts and prayers in honor of this lovely lady. I feel so blessed that she "picked" me as one of her closest friends during high school. She was my Maid of Honor...hey Sheryl, Kevin & I have been married for 50 years now. As you all know Sheryl was full of life, loving, giving, and did that girl know what she wanted out of life! I marvel at all the things she accomplished while raising a family of her own. My heart grieves for those close to her as she will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace dear friend! Sincerely, Karen (LeMay) Jendro
