To our beloved family of Ama Shi,

Our family would like to extend our deepest sympathy for your family. As a teenager, at the age of 17 years old , I had a chance to meet such wonderful family with such warmth and genuine heart to help others especially our family. You have greatly impacted my transition to this country and my whole life.
I felt so close to your family like my own as I go through high school, college, military training and so forth. I do not speak Chinese so I was not truly able to chat with Ama though she is close to me like my own grandmother. I will never forget Amas cooking - fresh Siopao (Humbao) and Hopia (Beancakes). We did exchange plenty of hugs and kisses every chance we got because we were right next door to each other.
Over the last twenty four years, my visit to my now 83 yr old mother, Aurora, was never complete without spending time , though a short visit to Ama, Tita Isabel and Tita Nene (Emerita). They treated and cared for me like their own niece. I will miss seeing Ama on my next visit. I know that the values and legacy she left behind will continue in her family and so many others they touched along the way.
We would like express our deepest gratitude and sympathy. We will include Ama and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Aurora B. Reyes, Maria Bohol and family, Gaudelia (Dhel) Baltazar, James Wan and Alexis Wan
