Shiela Ann DeMarre

Shiela Ann DeMarre, 71, of Staples, MN, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023. Born on April 27, 1952, in St. Paul, MN, Shiela was the daughter of Henley and Shirley Gentry. She attended Assumption Primary School and later graduated from Mechanic Arts High School, both in St. Paul.

Shiela had a diverse and fulfilling career, starting at Hemar in St. Paul and then spending 11 years at IWCO in Little Falls, MN. She found her true calling at Carrs Cononco in Staples, MN, where she managed the store through its transition into SA. Shiela concluded her career at Walmart in Wadena, MN. Known for her ability to bring smiles and joy to all her customers, she had a special gift for making people smile.

As a child, Shiela was sweet and caring, but as a teenager, she became a bit of a rebel. In her younger adult years, she loved to go dancing, especially when her husband's band was playing. Shiela was known for her strength and ability to adapt and overcome any obstacles that came her way. Her competitive nature was undeniable, and she cherished her role as a loving sister. Her family was incredibly important to her, and she delighted in bringing candy to her grandchildren during visits, earning her the nickname "Grandma Candy." Through her years of working with the public, she developed strong bonds with her regular customers, who shared countless beautiful stories of her kind heart and giving personality. Shiela's strength and resilience were truly remarkable, and she fought until her last breath. Her final hours were peaceful, a testament to her unwavering spirit.

Shiela will be deeply missed by her children, Tammi (Greg) Carman, Jerry DeMarre (Sherri), Anita DeMarre (Vern), Melody DeMarre (Lee), Eddie DeMarre (Caryn), daughter-in-law Vivian DeMarre, and son-in-law Todd Gabel. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her two loving sisters Linda Jarvis and Carol(Cliff) Guerin. Shiela is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward DeMarre, children Terri Gabel and Raymond DeMarre, grandchildren Nicholas Kelly and Zachary Walberg, parents Henley and Shirley Gentry, and siblings Dwane Gentry, Louise Smith, and Kenny Gentry.

A memorial service to celebrate Shiela's life will be held on October 14, 2023 at 1:00pm, at the Little Falls Lions Club, located at 925 4th St. S.E., Little Falls, MN 56345.
