We were shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of our fellow KMU alum, Dr. Shiko Tsai. We had the pleasure of meeting the kind and warmhearted Dr. Tsai at a couple of KMUAA gatherings. Our condolences and thoughts go out to our classmates Judy and BC Wen and the entire Tsai family.

Dear Mrs. Tsai:
It was such a big shock for us to learn about passing of Dr. Tsai. We had occasions visiting Dr. Tsai at the Hakka Conferences and especially at the "Walk for Taiwan" protest of 2007. It was very cold day and Dr. Tsai was the volunteer doctor for the protest group which walked from Philadelphia to Washington DC. Many HAPA-NA members participated in the event.
Dr. Tsai was a gentleman. He was dedicated, enthusiastic, friendly, considerate, and compassionate. He loved Taiwan and Taiwanese very much and has done a lot for them. Dr. Tsai's passing is a big and grave loss of HAPA-NA and the community.
We would like to extend our Condolences to Mrs. Tsai and your family for the loss of Dr. Tsai. We trust you all will cherish fine moments with, and dear memories of Dr. Tsai.
We wish you the best in your recovery and adaptation of lives going forward for your family.

Dear Diana and Family:
We know no words can comfort you at this moment of grief. We want you to know that this sense of loss is deeply shared by members of Shiko's music family -- Tung-Hsin Choral Society. We are attaching here a letter in Chinese we sent to members of that music family where Shiko spent so many happy years. He will be forever missed.

Dear and the family:
When Judy told me last night that Shiko had left us, we were deeply sadden by the shocking news. He had been very nice to me and always looked at me as his younger brother or younger Alumni. The way he talked and moved, being so mellow, soft and courteous, still appeared vividly in my memory. I missed him.
As to you all, please find comfort, in your deep sorrow, in knowing he is deeply missed by everyone. As the song forwarded by Joanna, we'll sing along, esp. the Japanese version, which has deeply touched our heart, as if he were whispering to us in the wind.
Sincerely,
B-Chen

Hi Daniel,
Thank you very much for the precious photos of our 'mini-reunion' with my home town boy and our Hsin Chu High School Brass Band member whom I have never met since I graduated from HCHS. I think this is one of few great harvests I have gained during this trip. (the other one is the artist/musician Mr. Yousif's presentation and talk.

Meiyin and family,
I can't say enough about the void that Shiko's sudden departure has left in us. As you prepare to celebrate Shiko's life and his legacy, I hope that all your beautiful memories of him will help sustain you through your grief and mourning. Shiko's character, strength, compassion, generosity, and wonderful spirit will continue living on through his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, and we will be thinking of you all...

Dear Shiko's family,
We have such fond memory of him, a video of May 2 concert performance of him with is shared with you all in below, see how he enjoyed singing in chorus....I also remember how easy it was for me to persuade him to join the 2014 Taiwan tour concert,...after 10 minutes phone conversation, he said yes ! I also remember how he and wife went with my little sub-group of Music Salon members to monthly outings at National Gallery of Art during Oct 2007- April 2008,...he enjoyed art and life very well, very inspiring to me ! He is such a gentleman, very nice person ! I enjoy dealing with him (and very nice wife ) very much ! Don't know if he has religious faith of any kind, but souls live on, he is not far from us all. He lives such an active and happy life until the end ! God bless ! Jane Li
