"Precious in sight of the Lord is the death of His saints". Psalm 116:15
Shirley was precious for many reasons, but as we reflect on her life and ministry to the little children who were precious to her, it was also obvious that she was loved by the children.
Moses prayed "Let your work be shown to your servants and your glorious power to their children" (Psalm 90:14). It was God that "established the work of her hands" and she discovered it "while it was yet morning". Because she was called to and designed for the purpose God had for her, she was the perfect provision to shepherd the youngest lambs within Norfolk Christian because lambs are the most vulnerable and impressionable. Her gentleness and understanding of the nature and needs of young children and their parents was God's ideal provision for extending Christian education downward to open its first preschool. We were blessed to have had two of our sons in that preschool and experienced first hand her patient, gentle, and effective teaching. Truly she was loved by us all.
So, to God be the Glory for bringing Shirley into our lives and for her impact on the children who now parent and grandparent "her" children's children.
