Shirley Batchelor Charleston - Shirley Clayton Batchelor passed away peacefully at her home in Charleston, SC, on July 28, 2021, at age 83. She was born in Ellijay, Georgia, to her parents, Arthur and Emma Clayton. She graduated from Gilmer High School in Ellijay and went on to spend 36 years working for the United States Postal Service in Atlanta, where she met her late husband, Cliff Batchelor, and made many lifelong friends. Cliff and Shirley raised their children, Steven and Kristin, in Marietta, GA. They were active members at East Cobb United Methodist Church. Her last years were spent in her newly-adopted home of Charleston, SC, where she lived out one of her most cherished roles as "Nana" to her family and grandson. She will be remembered for her selflessness, her beautiful smile, and her generous love for her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Steven Batchelor; and daughter, Kristin Vogel (Douglas); grandson, Rhett Vogel; niece, Linda Greif; children, Clay (Morgan) and Amanda (Geoff); nephew, Gary Lybrand; children, Phillip (Kelli) and Magen (Jerry); along with countless friends she made in her life in both Georgia and South Carolina. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 4, from 5-8pm at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home, followed by the Funeral Service on Thursday, August 5, at 2pm. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Men's Promise of Hope, PO Box 537, Cochran, GA 31014, 478-934-0771, www.Promiseofhopega.org.
