CORBETT, Shirley Isabel March 7, 1932 - September 15, 2013. . The last of her generation, Shirley passed away in West Vancouver surrounded by family on September 15. She was predeceased by her late husband Frank Corbett, parents Bert and Velma Lyttle, sister Marge Milner, and brother Blaine Lyttle. She is survived by sons Jamie (Margaret) and Steve (Effie), her beloved grandchildren George, Maddy, Meagan, Lindsay and Kevin, and many nieces and nephews. She was the life of the party. She will be greatly missed. Shirley loved vacationing at Cook Bay, and a true whisperer, had a special relationship with animals of all kinds. Born in Portage la Prairie, she never lost her love of the farm. Eventually moving to West Vancouver she met and married Frank, her husband of 56 years. Upon retirement they enjoyed farm life in Whonnock and the camaraderie of Autumwood in Fort Langley before returning to West Van to be closer to family. Charismatic and outgoing, she made friends wherever she lived. The family wishes to thank her wonderful doctors, Paul Sugar and Richard Blackmore, as well as loving caregivers Rosemary, Cynthia, Cora and Maddy. There will be a celebration of Shirley's life on September 26 from 1 to 4 pm at 2309 Inglewood Ave in West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers please make an online donation in her memory to the Paul Sugar Palliative Support Foundation. Hollyburn Funeral Home 604-922-1221

Shirley always had a wondrous smile on her face that seemed to not only light the room she was in but, also, made one want to know where the smile came from. I will cherish the moments I spent with her.
There are now two Shirleys out there who'll be looking out for us all.
I will remember Shirley with a fondnest only dogs might hear.

Ross and I were truly blessed to have had Shirley and Frank in our lives. We had so much fun together. I am very saddened to be the only one left in our friendship - but precious memories remain and I feel very grateful to have known and loved Shirley. Sincerely, Mary Johnson

Fortunately Sylvia was able to meet Shirley Belle, though later in life, but quickly responded to her warmth, charm and enthusiasm and so a big thank you to her for being in our lives even though in a small way but an even bigger thank you for being in my sister, Leta Murray and hubby Doug's life in such a large way with your love and loyalty as a true friend.

Our thoughts and prayers go to the family but Donn was almost family too. Shirley Belle and her best bud, Leta, were inseparable throughout life but during the school years it was me who feared for his life as these two bossed me around like I was dirt. Egads those were good times. Memories of Shirley Belle will never fade and so until we meet again a toast to an extraordinary person.

Ron and I would like to offer our deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences to all of Shirley's family.We came to love Shirley with all our hearts. She was a friend to everyone and embraced life with zest and all her heart! We will certainly miss her and the close times we spent with her at Cook Bay.We wish we had met her sooner and known her longer.
