Shirley Frink Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 11 to Oct. 19, 2021.
Shirley Joann Frink, age 87, of Oscoda, passed peacefully Friday evening Oct. 8, 2021, at Lakeview Manor Healthcare Center, with her family by her side.
She was born January 19, 1934, to Alexander and Ella (Schrade) Zielke in Mt. Clemens. On May 18, 1957, Shirley was united in marriage with Edward J. Frink. The couple settled in Utica, and moved to her present address in 1998.
Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Oscoda, and the Trinity Lutheran Church Women (TLCW) and Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) groups. She loved the Lord, her family, and her church family. She was actively involved in the church's card ministry.
She enjoyed camping, traveling, baking, crafting, and puzzles. Everyone loved her for her thoughtful ways, kind heart, and warm smile. After graduation from Mt. Clemens High School, she was employed at Philco Electric Range Corporation in Mt. Clemens. In later years she worked at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester until she retired in 1996.
Surviving are her three children, Susan Frink, James (Dawn) Frink, and Sheryl Frink; three grandchildren, Madison (Luke) Bentley, Jillian (Jakob) Klemm, and Louis Frink; step-sister, Joan Flynn; and sister-in-law, Noreen Mullen. Shirley was predeceased by husband, Edward Frink; mother and father, Alexander and Ella Schrade; step-mother, Carolyn (Kennedy) Zielke; sister, Betty Harvey; brothers, Frederick and Robert Zielke who were killed in action during World War II; and three stepbrothers, Tom, Walter, and Robert Kennedy.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Oscoda, on Friday, Oct. 15. The family will welcome friends from noon until the time of service beginning at 1 p.m., with the Reverend Timothy Azzam officiating. She will be laid to rest along side her husband at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Oscoda.
