Debbie, Nancy, Eddie, Sue, Sally & Laurie:

Our deepest sympathies on the passing of your Mom. While I met her only a couple of times long ago, it was obvious to me that she was a gracious and loving lady. Her love of family was obvious and that proof is reflected in all of you and your families. I know you will miss her but she is at peace in a better place. Best wishes to you all.

Shirley was a wonderful person. I remember the Boh family from when I was very young - Shirley and Norma, their parents Millie and Eddie (very dear friends of my mother and father). I remember Shirley's husband and her children - all great people that she certainly influenced. The world was a better place because of her. Shirley Coogan Winn-Bannerot Houston, Texas

+ The author of this obituary notice knew whereof he/she spoke when describing Shirley as "gracious ... a genuine smile ... heart-felt laughter."
She was a joy to me during my years in St. Dominic Parish. God grant her a rich reward for her life in his service.

Dear Laurie and all Gadens,
So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. GeeGee sent news to me in Florida. I loved going over to visit 'Miss Shirley" with Maw Maw "C", and hanging out with you Laurie. Your home was always a pleasant place to be invited to due to your mom's love and care. I have great memories of both of your parents dancing with Danielle and Eddie in the living room as we were all kids. Now they are dancing in heaven! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Love,

Dear Gaden Family,
What warm, fun memories I have of being welcomed into the Gaden house by Mrs. Gaden during our many visits as friends of Debbie. Shirley was so nice that she maintained that lovely smile even when our late friend (and all-around trouble-maker) Barry Hall was with us. I'm sure Barry will return the favor now.

Dearest Gaden Family & Miss Norma,
For the good times of growing up in Lakeview as neighbors to Shirley, Howard & 6 fun kids all of whom I had the pleasure of "baby sitting". Catching crawfish in the Argonne Canal using "hot dogs" as bait, playing hide & seek under the house & eating scrambled eggs for dinner. Your mom, dad & grandmother "Millie" were ever so fun. I'll always cherish the memories of Argonne Blvd. Shirley is at peace & I hope your family will find comfort in the memories of love we shared as neighbors. My condolances to all. Mrs. Cranberry's middle child...

I will never forget how nicely the Boh family treated a young boy growing up in the 5500 block of Rosemary Pl. in the 1930's.
I had a huge crush on both of the girls, although they were "older women".
It may be true that you cant go home again, but you never forget nice people.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
