Shirley Hovda Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 1, 2024.
A beautiful light has gone out with the passing of Shirley June Hovda. She died peacefully with family around her on Saturday, May 25th.

Shirley was born on June 17th, 1930, to Alma and Louis Neve. She was a farm girl at heart, growing up on a farm in Austin, Minnesota, with her parents and three older brothers: Evan, Ray, and Bob. In her early 20s, she moved to Minneapolis, where she met her man, Leslie Hovda. They were married on December 20th, 1952. They raised three children and retired to Sun City, AZ, where they spent over 30 wonderful years.

Shirley's devotion to her family was unmatched. She loved spending time with them and always had great stories to share. Besides being the best mom and grandma, she was a card shark who never turned down a chance to play cards. Bridge was her preferred game, but she was up for anything. She also loved music, and if you needed a dance partner, she was up for the task.

Shirley is survived by her son Scott (Vicky), daughter Debbie (Dean), daughter-in-law Scarlett, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-granddaughters. She is now reunited with her husband and son, Jeffrey Les. She will be missed by so many but never forgotten.

A celebration of her amazing life will be planned in the future.
