My thoughts of sympathy are offered to Mrs. Johnson's family and friends. As you think of her lifelong joys and experiences, may God's perfect guidance and "merciful kindness be for your comfort", from the passages of His Word,
Ps. 119:76; Ps. 18:6

The Final Salute
Brothers in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to Mrs. Shirley Mixon Johnson a loving Army wife who provided dedicate service to her country, her community and her family. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Shirley. And to Shirley it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for her devotion to her husband, her family, the U.S. Army and her country. Only a military wife knows the difficulties and great sacrifices associated with rearing a military family that relocated frequently and that often included long separations from the one they loved most and anxious moments of concern for their safety. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 961 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Shirley's family and loved ones.
