Shirley Kirby Hensley Obituary
Kirby Hensley.
Shirley passed away peacefully on July 2 in Savannah, GA, surrounded by her loved ones and just months shy of her 90th birthday.
She was born in Knoxville, TN to Naomi and Roy Kirby (both deceased) and raised in Knoxville with her brothers Max Kirby and Otis Kirby (both deceased).
Her driven nature kept her busy with a career from Owner/CEO of ServiceMaster of Knoxville to caretaking after retirement.
Shirley loved to laugh and make others laugh. She never missed a chance to share a joke or two. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing music on her keyboard and checking on friends.
She had a spirit of happiness and playfulness that will be missed.
She leaves behind three daughters: Robin Wheeler Lane (Bobby), Tina Shelby-Kahl (Keith) and Leslie Henry.
Grandchildren: Jacob Wheeler (Kim), Madison Kahl, A.J. Crawford and Charli Crawford
Great Grandchildren: Thompson and Lillian Wheeler
Services were private.
A Celebration of Shirleys life is planned for:
August 2, 2025
We will be receiving family and friends anytime between 2pm and 5pm at
10605 Sandpiper Lane Knoxville, TN 37922 (daughter's home)

Shirley, you were like another mother to me. Tina and I met in 4th grade and were constantly together at my house or yours. You were always so nice to me and I sincerely appreciated. I am glad I got to see you a couple of years ago. Had not seen you probably 40 years. You looked like I always remembered you. May your soul rest in peace. I am praying for Robin, Tina and Leslie during this time of heartbreak for them. May God watch over then and comfort them. Love, Karen

I have been friends with Shirley's daughters for many years, and when I needed caregiving help with my parents, Shirley stepped up and helped me in so many ways. She always had a smile on her face, was considerate & thoughtful, and we had many laughs together. What a sweet soul. You are going to be missed Shirley!
