Shirley Lantz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2025.
Shirley Jean Lantz (Jones) was welcomed home into eternal peace on September 27th of 2025.

She was born September 10th of 1948 in Webster County, West Virginia, the daughter of Carl Jones and Winifred Arthur-Jones and after her mother's passing was lovingly raised by her maternal grandparents David and Corda Arthur.

She continues to shine as a guiding light with her legacy living on through her loved ones. Her children, Theresa Phillips (Greg), Steve Lantz (Paul), Christine Lantz (Jody), her sister SueAnn Jones, her granddaughter Courtney Moniz (Mike), great grand-children Gabi Jean Moniz, Pryce Valdez and her best friend throughout life's many seasons, Sandy O'Connell. Shirley has a wide family and friends circle who were all touched by her presence, her words and her love.

She was joyfully reunited with her parents, her grandparents, her stepmother Martha Jones; her siblings Jimmy Jones (Peg), Judy Jones, and Marie "Gertie," Jones; her treasured Uncle David Glenn Arthur, who was a constant source of guidance in her life and her grandson Shawn Moniz, who held a most special place in her heart.

Shirley epitomized unconditional love and generosity, giving her heart, opening her home and offering her love freely. She was devoted to her family. Food was her love language. She found her greatest joy in planning family gatherings, making meals, turning each holiday into unforgettable milestones. Her hobbies included gardening, restoring antiques, thrifting for treasures and keeping many journals documenting her life, thoughts, love and dreams. Shirley was a powerhouse matriarch with a love so strong that it will continue to keep her family united. Her family, though not large, was made mighty by her love. She was the keeper of family memories and names, ensuring those who went before her were always honored.

Guided by her faith in God, she left behind a message of hope in one of her journals, "Soon you will read in the newspaper that I am dead. Don't believe it for a moment. I will be more alive than ever before. I will be busy being a guardian angel to many."

Shirley was loved by everyone. She was especially loved by her Moodispaugh Auction house family. Shirley was like a sister to all of us. Grandma took her in as one of her own daughters. Rhonda and Shirley had a very good friendship until Rhonda was taken away from us way to soon. Now her and Shirley can bid against each other again Lol! We have a lot of good memories. Shirley will be missed. So sorry for the loss of her but she is in no more pain. Thanks to God up in Heaven.
