Shirley Lathrop (Wee) Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 18 to Apr. 22, 2023.
It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Ann Lathrop (Wee), 84, announce her passing on April 13, 2023, at the Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, Minnesota after a long illness. She was born on September 12, 1938, in Fargo, North Dakota to Arnold and Margaret Wee (Tiffany).

Shirley graduated from Fargo Central High School and attended Moorhead State College before moving to Vista, California where she had a successful career in banking. After retiring from Mission Federal Credit Union as Branch Manager, Shirley moved to Show Low, Arizona; Big Island of Hawaii; Altenhof, Germany, and Gloucester, Virginia; and returned to Fargo, North Dakota 2016. Shirley had a fun and adventurous spirit that could not be contained in one location. Her travels took her to England, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and Mexico, as well as many cross-country trips throughout the United States to visit family and friends.

Shirley's lifelong passion was working with her hands to create beautiful works of art. She served as Vice-Chairperson for the Art League of Gloucester and was pivotal in raising scholarship funds for local high school seniors. Her paintings and drawings earned her numerous awards and were featured in The Gallery at York Hall in Yorktown, Virginia.

She was predeceased by her parents, Arnold and Margaret Wee (Tiffany) of Fargo, North Dakota; son Brad Lathrop of Fargo, North Dakota; and brother-in-law Tom Berdelle of Sebring, Florida. Anyone that was fortunate enough to know Shirley understands her deep love and devotion to her family. That list would not be complete without Penny, Sham, Willy, Lil Bit, and Colucci, her beloved dogs that brought joy throughout her amazing life.

Shirley is survived by son Randy Lathrop and spouse Diane Larson of Fargo, North Dakota; daughter Susan Chandler (Lathrop) and spouse Marcel Montane of Perham, Maine; sister Bonnie Berdelle (Wee) of Sebring, Florida; and former husband Gerald Lathrop of Detroit Lakes, five grandchildren, Melissa Chandler of Gloucester; Virginia; Cierra Lathrop of Phoenix, Arizona; Wayne Chandler and fiancée Morgan Smith of Hayes, Virginia; Chloe Lathrop and fiancé Tom Zummo of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Colton Lathrop and fiancée Ariana Martens of Portland, Oregon, and two great.-grandchildren, Roy Emerson and Everly Zummo.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a future date.
