Dear Diane and family, We are so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. We rejoice in knowing where she is and that she’s waiting for the rest of us to arrive. We were just reminiscing of her impact on our lives! We will miss her!

My deepest sympathy to the family. Shirley was a dear friend from my scouting days and later as a coworker at East. A delightful and caring person. May you find comfort in your memories.
Sincerely,

Shirley was a wonderful co-worker and friend for many years. Her buoyant and joyful personality drew you into a happy atmosphere.
She was a compassionate Christian who always had a good word. Her values were impeccable. I will always remember her with joy.

I will always remember Shirley as a sweet, fun, and passionate woman who loved God and had a deep relationship with her LORD & Savior! She has always inspired me and continues to be an inspiration of one I hope to leave a legacy as she. She ran her race well, endured hardship, fought the good fight, spread kindness and cheer everywhere she went, and loved well! She truly was about her Father's business! My heart rejoices for her, to know she never will suffer again and has now received all her rewards for every seed she planted here on earth! That every struggle she faced, God has shown her the harvest of her sowing! Never underestimate the impact YOU make either! The greatest gift of honor we can give her is to run our race too with endurance, fully dependent on JESUS CHRIST, that we too will see her again and what a celebration REUNION that will be! So let's follow in her steps and together make a difference! Spreading God's love! Each day is a GIFT and so are YOU! Thank you Shirley for making a difference in my life!

Shirley was always so friendly and sweet. We had many conversations in the office at CDEast during my high school years from 1976-78. I last saw her shopping at Lowe's 2 or 3 years ago and had another great conversation including talking about her friend and my favorite teacher Bernie Christ. I will miss her and our chance meetings and talks. Deepest heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.

What a joy for me to have been led by Brownie and Girl Scout leader Shirley in the 1950s and 60s. She took us on so many educational and recreational adventures, showing us new worlds and teaching us love of each other, God and country.
Shirley and I kept in touch through birthday cards as we are both Leap Year babies.
She is FINALLY HOME.
What must it be to step on shore
And find it heaven;
To take hold of a hand
And find it God’s hand;
To breathe a new air,
And find it celestial air;
To feel invigorated,
And find it immortality;
To rise from the care and turmoil
Of earth into one unbroken calm,
To wake up and find it Glory.

With deepest sympathy and condolences to the Rode family. I was saddened at first but the sadness turned to warmth when I thought of all the wonderful memories I have of her. She was a "sweetheart of a lady, kind - considerate - dignified and classy" and one of my father Earl's favorite cousins. I recall after moving back home here 11 years ago going for a walk, and I'd always head up Berkeley St to EH Phillips and walk the lawn area behind her home just to see if she was out and if so; well then we would have a wonderful afternoon chat amidst her flower beds. Always a Smile and Love She Gave so freely.

My sincere sympathy on Shirley's homegoing. She was so sweet and kind always and I remember her smile and laughter the most. I've often thought of her through the years. I know she is resting in the arms of Jesus now. Carol Kos Riehle
