I had the honor and privilege to work with Shirley at the University of Kansas Health System. She was full of energy, brilliant, and an inspiration to all! We could conquer anything! Most importantly we would start every conversation with "how are the girls" and we would share what was happening with our daughters. They were her pride and joy! Sending all my love and prayers to the family during this difficult time.

Shirley was one of those rare souls who led with her heart, smiled with warmth, and made you feel truly seen. She was an advocate for me that led me to a wonderful career at Stanford - I'm forever thankful. A fond memory, many years after we worked together at Stanford, I ran into Shirley as she was hurrying to her car. Despite being in a rush, she paused to have a personal conversation, and offered the same warm smile I had always remembered. That small moment spoke volumes about the kind of person she was-present, caring, and genuinely interested in others´ well-being. I´ll forever be grateful to have crossed paths with someone so full of grace and light. Her spirit lives on in the many lives she touched.

To Shirley´s Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Shirley´s passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. As I reflected on her memory, I came across many old photographs that brought back a flood of wonderful memories from our time together. Shirley was a dear friend, and I will always cherish the moments we shared.
I vividly remember how she spoke so lovingly and proudly of her daughters and grandchildren. Her face would light up with joy every time she mentioned them. It was clear that her family meant everything to her. I also remember the happiness and excitement she felt while planning her wedding-she truly glowed with anticipation and love.
Shirley had a warm and generous spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her kindness, laughter, and friendship will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Wishing you peace, comfort, and strength in the days ahead. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
With sympathy and love, Anna Dapelo-Garcia

We will miss you, Shirley. I will always be so grateful for how much love and joy and support you brought into my dad´s life. We were all lucky to have known you, and I will always remember the day you visited me in the hospital and were one of the first people to ever hold Juliet. We definitely got special treatment because we were at Stanford Hospital :) Thank you for being such a great role model to all the women and girls in your life and such a wonderful partner to my father. You were deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
