Shirley was born June 29, 1951, in Darlington, a daughter of the late Carine Rogers and Jeffery Lee James. She entered into eternal rest Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at Downstate Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Shirley was a 1970 graduate of Erasmus High School of Brooklyn and a 1979 graduate of the School of Nursing in Nassau County. She was a New York State LPN for 27 years. She also obtained a New York State private school teachers license in 1996 and taught a nurses aide course in Brooklyn for several years.
Shirley enjoyed helping others and was energetic and positive about life. In your time of need, she was there with comforting words of wisdom from the Bible.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Wilson Sr.; four children, Staff Sgt. Johnnie Wilson Jr., Sebrina Wilson, Shevon Wilson and Cynthia Wilson, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five sisters and brothers, Naomi (Evans) Dubose of Darlington, Robert James, Elizabeth James, Edna Mae Davis and Joseph (Joan) James of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Boatwrights Chapel On Main of Darlington is in charge of arrangements.
