Shirley and I became friends in 1962 and remained friends for 53 years. She happily shared her most talented skaters with me when I was starting out as a teacher and brought joy and good advice to my professional career. On occasion, I rented her Carmel Highlands home on long weekends and spent wonderful times staying in that paradise overlooking the crashing Pacicfic. Thank you, SHIRLEY. You have a permanent place in my mind and in my heart.

Shirley will be deeply missed, she was such a Blessing when we worked together at Polar Palace. She would let my daughter be her hairdresser and she was so sweet to her, we will never forget your kindness to Christine when she had too hang out at the rink. Mark and family I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

She was such an inspiration to me as a youngster, she was more then a coach to me. I still remember her driving around in her volvo (hatchback of some sort) and her fur coats and her stern demeanor but her very soft inside. I still think of her today and it's only by googling her that I have found out about her passing, I'm terribly sorry for the families loss. Laura Vandenberg

Shirley was my first skating coach, I can still hear her lilting laugh and gentle voice. Rest In Paradise Shirley, keep skating on those frozen ponds of gold. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to her family.

Shirley was my figure skating teacher at Glacier Falls (Anaheim, Calif) in the 1960's -- she was a wonderful teacher! She really inspired all of us to do our very best. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing.
