He was a special deputy with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and was active in the Junior Deputy Program. I'll always remember Senor Puppet. But most of all, I can still hear his voice bouncing off Tiger Stadium on a Fall evening saying "Doctor # XX, Call Medical Exchange"...What a voice.

My Prayers to the family.

Sid worked with my Dad for over 30 years and I have known him my whole life. He used to pick me up every Saturday morning and take me to junior deputies. I have so many fond memories that I cannot share them all here so I will look forward to visiting with his friends on Saturday so we can all share our stories. He was truely a giant amoung men and my father considered him one of his dearest friends.

As so many others, I grew up with Senor Puppet and seeing Mr. Sid as part of our local sports scene. I also had the great gift of having "Senor Puppet" and "Buckskin Bill" at our house, shooting friendly games of pool with my dad. I still have a couple of the home movies made when they were there, being a part of my family, and becoming such an important part of my childhood.

I read that Mr. Sid has given of himself, even after his life with us here has ended. That should come as no surprise. It has always been clear what a generous man he is.

Thank you, Mr. Sid, for all of the wonderful memories of childhood I have. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

While I never met Mr. Crocker, I still feel as if I've lost a friend. Between being the voice of Senor Puppet and stadium announcer for LSU Football and Basketball, it's as if Mr. Crocker watched me grow up from a distance. His larger than life presence and enthusiasm on the microphone are STILL missed at LSU, and I have very nice memories of those days and the games Mr. Crocker called.

May the grace and love of our Heavenly Father comfort and strengthen you now and in the difficult days which lie ahead.

Growing up in BR in the '60's, there were 3 public figures that I completely admired: Sid Crocker, John Ferguson, and "Buckskin Bill" Black.

Sid, you are the first to leave the stage, and we bid you a very fond adieu.

Thanks for being a link between the other two BR giants, for "Senor Puppet" and the witticisms that you brought to the Saturday night air in Tiger Stadium. Also for the excellent "Big Time Wrestling" interviews.

May the joy that you created be yours forever in the arms of your Creator.

Thanks so much,

from a homesick BR boy.

You will be missed.

For more years than we can remember, Sid was known to tens of thousands of South Louisiana folks. Youngsters grew up with the delightful antics of Senor Puppet, then grew older to appreciate Sid's work with news and weather casting. On weekends, we heard his familiar voice booming across the stadium at ball games. Those of us who worked with Sid will remember him as a talented and respected broadcaster, a gracious and understanding friend. And as a proud American. The prayers of his many friends are with Sid, Barbara and all his family.

I remember only the good times we had and hope that you remember those times also. Sid will be remembered forever in our hearts. My love and blessings to you all.

I remember as a kid, attending LSU Basketball games with my folks. The highlight of any game was when the Court Jesters (band) would ask questions of Mr. Sid, and he would respond with a clever quip. As an example, here was my favorite:

Court Jesters: HEY SID! What's a cumquat?

Sid: (after a few moments' hesitation) An itty bitty orange.

Who knows what you will remember when the hair turns gray. I remember a witty gentleman. And who could forget Senor Puppet?

Immortality may be defined by what is left in the hearts who remain. This man, that I didn't even know personally, touched the heart of a kid and showed me what gentle humor can be.

It was my privilege to know Sid as he was a good friend of my father. Besides being the talented media person he was, he was also a great outdoorsman and conservationist. I remember he and Walter Hill fishing tournaments together and it was just to be around the waters that they loved so much. I'm so sorry for your loss, but what a legacy he left. Thanks Sid for taking time to converse with my brother Gaylan and I. Hunter,Jr.

Dear Crocker Family,

I am so terribly saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Sid. You may not remember me but I was a close friend of Randy's back in Jr. High. I have always remembered your family and all the kindness and love that you all showed me while Randy and I were friends. I also remember all the Ch. 9 functions that Mr. Sid brought us to which I enjoyed so much. I will never forget you and my prayers are with you now and always. May God bless you and bring good things and good people to you each day to ease your pain.

Sincerely,
