I have wonderful, warm thoughts when I think about Second Street School and Mr. Cumbers ... not only through my years there in the 1960's, but also in how he stayed so active in the community well beyond his retirement. Mr. Cumbers made a difference in so many lives. My condolences to his family and friends ... and my sincere thanks for sharing him with us all.

Condolences On your loss. Mr. Cumbers was my 5th grade teacher at Edmonds. Later 1967 or 1968 I worked with Sid in the Men's Department at Simpsons Sears.

I was lucky enough to have Mr. Cumbers as my grade 6 teacher at Second Street school in the mid-60s. I remember him as a thoughtful, respectful and careing teacher who always had seemed to be smiling as he taught us. Your father was a fine teacher. I'm so glad he lived a long life.
