Although Signe and I never met in person, I felt a true bond with her due to our same unique illness and symptoms. I am truly sorry for all of her family and friends that are grieving her loss, for it is a great one. I dream of her riding horses with the wind blowing on her face, eating anything but chicken and rice(except sushi) and shining her light down on all that need her in a moments notice. I am lucky to have had her in my life, although brief and through facebook. May memories of her get passed on for generations. With all my love, my shining light and sincere condolences, A friend, Barb

I just found out today of Signe's passing......I am in shock. She was such a sweet person, always a smile on her face. The last time we ran into each other, we were both in a hurry.....she was on her way to a blind date. She looked beautiful, and as always, smiling......I will remember her looking so beautiful that night. My thoughts to her family, as I will miss her always waving to me with her beautiful smile.

I met Signe at the barn which I'm sure was one of her favorite places to be. She was always in a good mood and the first to lend a hand. She was so very generous with support in every way and so selfless when it came to her self. Really just a great soul- fly high Sig!

Signe's smile made me feel so good every time I saw her. Though years apart we were best of friends who got to see each other only at horse shows. And what a time we always had. I'll never be at another show without missing you, Signe. May you ride the horses of your lifetime for all eternity.

I am so shocked to hear of Signe's passing. I often cared for her during the times she was hospitalized at Palos Community Hospital. No matter how poorly she felt, she always had a smile on her face and a cheery "hello." She never spoke of herself, but wanted to know how I was doing and what was new in my life. Rest easy in the arms of Our Savior, Signe.

Dear Bernardoni Family,
Our deepest sympathy on your loss. Signe's bubbly personality was a blessing to us all. Her persistence and determination gave us an additional six weeks with our brother Al we would not have had otherwise if not for her, while she battled her own illness. Courageous and Caring indeed. I wish we could have done the same for her and her family. She will always be special to us and I know she is in heaven with him now having fun. Rest in peace Signe and may God Bless her and her family and give them strength to carry on in her memory.
With Love and Prayers,
Alyce Dalto and Family

As a coworker in the ED, I have witnessed Signe's can do attitude...as a new orientee in the ED, a seasoned ED RN caring for a critical patient, taking on the challenging manager's position, returning to school to achieve her NP......training her new horse....caring for her aging horse...all while battling health issues.....and doing it with that beautiful smile and infectious giggle. You will be missed. My most sincere condolences to family. Taken too soon....

Signe was a friend to everyone she met. The horse world lost a very special woman, who was always happy when spending time with her horses as well as her kitties. She was always supportive, never complained, worked hard and fought a battle that many would not have survived as long. Signe, left the world a better place and she was a very special woman, who God took home to be with Him. She will be missed by many more than most people realize; she is irreplaceable, but an example for all to try to imitate. RIP, my friend, until we meet again.

I remember so many things about Signe in high school! I remember her most during double session for tennis. In August we had to practice for 3 hours in the morning, then we all went to lunch together, and then 2-3 hours after that. When we were all dying from running or burpees, she would be laughing and keeping our minds on other things! She had such a fun heart and spirit! I loved finding her on Facebook... she is not easy to find! We reconnected, and I got to "meet" her horses she had now.
I am sorry for her for the pain she had to endure and I can only imagine her making everyone else laugh while she was suffering.
Bless her family in these very difficult times.
