I like nearly all of us was shaken when I heard of Simons untimely death - I had only recently caught up with him and had planned to meet up in a pub at Sunningdale on my way home from London to share some of our memories of our young days at B&D, having fun and working hard.John Highfield and I will remember the ski trip to Scotland and the hire car races back to Teeside or Newcastle, Richard Sanderson & Charles Pettican plus many others will recall the incentive trips to Portugal and Spain but most of all we should remember someone who gave something back to life by helping others around him.
As someone with a young family myself I would like to extend my sympathies to Simons family - you will miss him in a different way but we will all miss him.

I had never met your family until the celebration of your life in Sunningdale. I'm sure you're very proud of how brave your family were, especially Max & Katya. They're a credit to you.

I heard today about the tragic and untimely passing of our friend Simon. Like many others i had only reconnected with simon last year before the school reunion and enjoyed getting to know him again.
I can only express my sincere and heartfelt sympathy to all the Kinder extended family, and i pray that God would be near to all of you as you remember Simon and grieve, and that he would somehow give you the strength to get through this time and remember with laughter and tears, and celebrate all that Simon was. Even for the short time i knew him he was such a thoughtful kind and caring man , who so obviously loved his two children and was so proud to talk about them , we are all the poorer for his passing.
with love, prayers and blessings .

It’s been very difficult to take in the untimely passing of my cousin Simon at such an early age. He was a very witty, caring and charming person and if there is one thing we can take from this is that we never really know what’s around the corner. I suppose the most disappointing thing for me is that I will never get the Ice cream maker, see through-toaster, espresso coffee maker, and food processor to go with my strimmer, battery drill, lawnmower and snake light!!! How could he leave me without so many life’s essentials? God bless you Simon, thanks for everything and always keep smiling!

Best wishes to Auntie Dorothy & Uncle Graham, Andrew, Stephen, their families and special thoughts for Max and Katya, you must always remember your dad loved you very much. I’ll be having a drink for you with the family next week and I’ll even try to get Stephen to get the bill! Good bye mate I’ll miss u.

It just doesn’t seem right that I am sitting here writing this in memory of Simon. This lovely, kind and fun man was definitely taken from us too soon but like many others I will have wonderful images of Simon etched in my memory forever. When I first moved here from the States about 12 years ago Simon was one of the first people I became friends with. I remember him teaching my sons how to play football. What I also remember is how clever he was at writing letters. After a July 4th celebration at my house, he wrote a very funny letter to my family saying that in this country fireworks were only to be used on Guy Fawkes night and that because we broke the rule the authorities would need to be called but of course it was signed with a fictitious neighbours name. Well….we all had a sneaky suspicion it could only be Simon writing this to wind us up!

Simon will be sorely missed but never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family especially Max and Katya whom he was extremely proud of and truly adored.

Simon was such a positive person when he joined B & D. It was a pleasure working with him, Simon in Marketing, me in Sales. Even though I left 20 years ago, our paths still crossed due to his work with Magimix and mine in the Licensed trade. Meeting Simon at Shows and Exhibitions was always the highlight of the day due to his sparkle and enthusiasm. Simon never changed from his B & D days and thats how I will remember him.

May 25, 2010

My Husband Brendan, works for Magimix, and has always spoken about Simon as being a funny, professional man who clearly loved his children, as he often spoke about them. The few times I had met Simon, I had always found him as a very sincere, nice person who clearly cared about people, including ones, like myself, who he had only met a few times. I lost my sister last year, very suddenly and Brendan had to take quite a lot of time off to be with me, Simon was very good about this and very understanding. When I recently came into the office, he took time out to speak to me to ask how I was doing , and I will always remember that. To Simon’s Family, may I pass on my deepest heartfelt sympathy. Hope you get some comfort in knowing that Simon was truly a lovely caring man who will be so missed by everyone.

I was saddened to hear of Simon's passing. Simon was a positive influence on the lives of many, as the comments here illustrate. I am gratful Simon for not just the effort and hard work you put into organising the 79ers reunion but also and more importantly the inclusive approach which you took, setting the scene for what was a highly successful evening in which not only were old friendships rekindled but also new one forged. Thank you Simon for that oppertunity.

May 24, 2010

I was very sad to hear the news of the passing away of Simon. I meet Simon once last year, during sport day at Wellington College. Simon was introduced to me and my son on that day by one of the parents. Simon took a liking for my son and during his conversation with my son agreed to assist my son write a perfect CV. He took time to communicate with my son via email correcting and amending my son’s CV until my son achieved a perfect CV, which earned him a student placement job with Goldman Sachs. I was very touched that Simon spared time from his busy schedule to help a young boy whom he did not know and had only met once. Simon was a generous, good hearted and a great man. Even though I only met him once, I will always cherish his kindness and generosity. My thoughts and prayers are with his children, Max and Katya in this time of grief. May the memories of your dad bring you comfort. May God Bless you in this time of Sorrow.

Rest in Peace Simon, till we meet again.

I met Simon nearly exactly a year ago at my previous school’s speech day. Immediately we had a bond and we got on really well. I spoke to him about my life at University, my life at high school and life in general. He has played a major part in my life and has been very influential to me. My encounter with him has led me to where I am today. He assisted me greatly with my CV and if it weren’t for him I would not have managed to get a job with Goldman Sachs, which I start this June. His death has come as a huge shock to me. I pass my deepest condolences to the Kinder family.

Much love and respect.

Simon was the funniest, most charming and most uplifting father at Lambrook. He was always interested in, and enthusiastic about, everyone's children, not just his own and his words of advice and encouragement to us all were always perfect and timely. His enthusiasm for everything was infectious; my life is all the richer for having known him.
