So sad to hear. Si was a good friend and always pleasant to talk with. In 1996 I asked Si to plane some of my pine into t/g for siding my new home... He questioned me about it and then came up to Atlanta to see how it turned out. Millions bf of siding was sold after. And I sided two more of my homes with his product.
Thanks Si

Our hearts are broken knowing you are gone my friend. Weve been through a lot together. Meeting you so many years back was one of the best things that ever happened. Your outlook on life has been contagious and has made me a better man for knowing you.
So many things that demonstrate the kind of guy you are - things such as your appreciation for a hard days work and for doing the right thing no matter what, or for always going the extra mile.
For the love of your family and friends. I mean seriously-knowing how you enjoyed working alongside your grandson Jesse Jr. out on that curve last month and for taking your little granddaughter out on a date for the Jill Jack Christmas Concert just a couple weeks ago. Following the kids basketball games and Friday fish frys with Jesse and Dick-or how much you enjoyed seeing your mom and siblings-these are all amazing evidence of how much your family and friends mean to you
Your love of nature, and time touring the woods looking for how the forest takes on its own personality-Your stories of how you were devastated by the tornado 20 years ago, and how youve enjoyed watching the forest repair itself, a rebirth of growth that came as the forest came back-your childlike appreciation for this still bewilders me, and makes me look at life in a totally different way.
Your dedication to your community is something Ill never forget. It inspired so many. Your many efforts to help individuals, young businesses and organizations that shared your joy in community is to be commended. The Nor-Eastr Music Festival and Skyline are two that come to mind that I know have appreciated your support for years. Perhaps one of the most endearing aspects of this is how you always stayed out of the limelight, letting others take credit although without your help these community efforts would never get off the ground or stay on track.
Even little things (which is actually a pretty big thing) such as making sure that the grass between Woodworkers Shop and the town of Comins is mowed so that folks visiting the area view your community as a town that has pride in its image.
Really, your fingerprints are all over the county-theres no way to list all of the things you have done to make your region a better place, and all of the folks you helped in their personal and business endeavors. We all benefit from your efforts and I hope some of this rubs off on all of us that know you.
I cant tell you how much I appreciate our many chats over the phone or over a six pack. It always yielded a nugget of hope, inspiration and encouragement as well as discussions of which music we enjoyed, or which beer we were trying-I bet if I go into your refrigerator right now, theres a beer with my name on it waiting for our chance to enjoy together.
Thank you for acknowledging our shortcomings and mistakes. Its difficult for us men to discuss these things, but we did and I hope it made us better men for bringing it out into the open and discussing ways to improve.
Thank you so much for your love of God and your ability to gently nudge your friend who struggled with his own beliefs into seeking Gods greatness for his own life. Im always working on it my friend, and I love you for keeping it real, being a friend and an inspiration and all the while remaining the most humble, easy going and fun loving guy I have known. You will never be forgotten my friend.
