Simone Longo Obituary
Simone Luca Longo, 35, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019 suddenly at his residence.
He leaves his wife of nearly 2 years, Amanda (DeFreese) Longo; his parents; two brothers, Giuseppe and Roberto; his maternal grandmother, Anna Alfano; many cousins and aunts and uncles.
Raised in Washburn, IL, the son of Gino and Nora Longo, he was a recent resident of Tampa, FL. Having had a radiant personality, he was hardworking, loved his family, and had affinity for sunsets and Zuppa Inglese gelato. In his spare time, he enjoyed visiting his family in Sicily and taking rides on his red Vespa. His passions included vintage cars and exploring with his camper.
He graduated from Lowpoint-Washburn High School in 2001, and he helped his parents at their local family-owned pizzeria for years. He was also a graduate of Illinois Central College and Illinois State University.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:30 PM, Tuesday, August 6, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 510 Richard Mautino Drive, Spring Valley, IL. Rev. Scott Potthoff will officiate. Entombment will follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for Simone will be held Tuesday morning, from 10:00 AM until Noon, at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley.

Amanda, I am so sorry for your loss. The short time I knew Simone as my new neighbor, he always made an effort to stop and chat. You could tell he was a very warm kind person with a good soul. We were out of state when I heard that Simone passed. My heart was broken for you. My love and thoughts are with you and your entire family. Simone walked into my classroom and announced, "I am the pizza boy!" He was so very proud of his family! He had a smile every single time I saw him from that day on even all grown up. He had the biggest heart and always ready to help when needed. When I brought my parents in to eat he would pull up a chair and talk for a few minutes! I can only imagine your pain but with all of the devastating things going on in our world right now God must be calling his special angels to help him!

Amanda & Family, I am so sorry for your loss of Simone. I meet a lot people in my job, but very few touch your heart like Simone. He had so much drive and determination. He did not just "live the dream" he made it happen. You were part of that dream. I remember when he called me to tell me that he was going to get married.
