Simone Marie Therese Richard Mulkern

Simone Marie Therese Richard Mulkern of Holden passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the age of 97 on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Simone was born in Fitchburg, MA to Anna and Max Richard who had emigrated from New Brunswick, Canada at the turn of the 20th Century. Simone was predeceased in 2021 by her husband Judge Robert V. Mulkern, Sr.
After graduating from High School, Simone earned a secretarial degree at Burdett Business School in Boston, MA. She went on to work for District Attorney Garret Burns and then for the Defense Department in Washington, D.C. She met the love of her life, Bob Mulkern, at a political fundraiser in Boston when he noticed her adorable hat. After marrying, Bob and Simone relocated to Leicester, MA where they raised their five children together.
Simone's love of life, laughter and literature was infectious to all who knew her. Her kindness always made people feel at ease at any social gathering and she loved to throw a party involving a "pink piggy pitcher!"
Simone leaves behind her five children, Robert V. Mulkern, Jr. (Janine Shertzer) of Newton, MA, Louis M. Mulkern of Bangkok, Thailand, Sarah R. Morris (Rob Morris) of Brookfield, CT, Joanna M. Mulkern (Bill Scannell) of Rockport, MA and Thomas B. Mulkern, her beloved son and caregiver of Holden, MA.
Simone also leaves behind three grandchildren, Kathryn S. Morris, Samuel R. Morris and Robert V. Mulkern,III.
The family wishes to extend many thanks to the staff of Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, MA.
