ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Sister Mary Laurentine Lorenz, 93, St. Louis, formerly St. Joseph, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Mo., of respiratory failure.
Sister Lorenz was born the daughter of Joseph E. and Mary (Lorsbach) Lorenz on April 18, 1914, in St. Joseph.
She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on Sept. 15, 1936, and professed her final vows on Aug. 15, 1942.
Sister Lorenz has served the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet for 70 years, mainly as a teacher.
She received her master's degree in education with an emphasis in deaf education from Kent State University in 1960; and a bachelor of arts degree in 1936 and a certificate in education from Fontbonne College.
She became a teacher at the St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis in 1939 and a volunteer at the institute in 1992. She retired to the Nazareth Living Center of St. Louis in 2005.
There are no immediate survivors.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Nazareth Living Center, 2 Nazareth Lane, in St. Louis. Burial will be in Nazareth Cemetery, St. Louis. There will be no wake service. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 4, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Louis Province, 6400 Minnesota Ave., St. Louis, Mo., 63111-2899.

Just let you all know that I have been thinking about Sr. Laurentine and everybody else at St. Joseph. She was a heck of a teacher/homeroom teacher.
