I am deeply saddened by the news of my closest friend and colleague Aumbahavan passing away. He was my classmate at the Jaffna Central college and everyone fondly called him Bhagavan. He was a very gentle and charming person. Bhagavad was a keen athlete and a hocky player represented the Jaffna district and won school colours. Bhagavan, entering the University joined the first batch of the Jaffna Medical Faculty. During our time at the school we both used spent hours practice running 800m and 1500 m at the JCC grounds and I spent number of my holidays with parents in Uduvil. While in the medical school, Bhagavan was a frequent visitor to Kandy to see his future wife Gowri and to meet his old school mates at the University of Peradeniya. Bhagavan was a great guy to socialise and we used to spent lot of time time while we were colleagues in Kandy hospital. I last met Bhagavan in 2015 when he came to see me on his way back from Jaffna after performing religious rites to his loving late wife Gowri. He was charming as ever and had a long chat. Our thoughts and prayers are with his Amma, daughters Suhanya, Ayiswariya, brother Guru and rest of the family. Good by my friend and Rest in Peace.

I am deeply saddened by the news of my closest friend Aumbahavan passing away. We both were classmates from 1966 to 1977 at Jaffna central college. He was a bright student at school. He was well-spoken by the teachers. He was one of the three students who got through 1st division at grade 8 NPSTA exams (Northern Province student Teachers Association). He was a very hardworking colleague in the class. He always say that because his dad’s encouragement and perseverance, he became a doctor. I recently met him with his daughters in London where he was returning from Sri-Lanka (27th Dec.2015) after performing the Hindu funeral rites for his wife’s ashes in Keerimalai. I couldn’t believe that within past two years his health was deteriorated so badly. My thoughts and prayers are goes to his children Suganya & Aishwarya, brother Gurubhahavan and Aumbhahavan's mum. He will be truly missed and always remembered. May god rest his soul in peace. Harry Harindran _ London/KSA

I send my heartfelt condolences to Aumbahavan’s daughters and their close families. I went to school with him and remember him as a gentle, warm and friendly guy. He was a keen athlete and very good hockey player. He loved his long distance events such as 1500 and 800 meters. Our thoughts & prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
