I first saw Sixto on 60 Minutes. In my opinion it was 60 Minutes' best piece. they should follow up with a show applauding his life. A great man, Father, song writer and singer. I joined his followers late but he meant a lot to me and my family. Jim Nelson, Scottsdale AZ.

Thanks for the memories Sugarman! Growing up in 70s Apartheid South Africa, with Cold Fact playing on the record player, whilst the country was burning outside. It all seems like a dream now. Rest in peace , you were a legend

How wonderful for Rodriguez's devoted fans when the mythical music man reappeared later in life to tour the world several times with his unique stories and haunting voice. A great achievement. Being a fan with knowledge was a kind of secret code for ultimate coolness, an honor badge, back in the day, as Sixto's stories were unusually clearsighted, direct without cruelty, his music was simple but most fine, still he was not famed. So it was fitting, God-given, that fans lured him back into the limelight. Condolences to Rodriguez' loved ones and worshipful fan base.

We lost quite a treasure, I didn't know Sixto very well but we broke pizza at the Motor City Brewing Works a few times, and talked philosophy at the Old Miami more often.
He was so authentic and gritty and Detroit and cool.
I'm so happy he received the recognition he deserved, and he so deserved it.
Condolences to Sixto's family, friends, fans, and everybody at the Old Miami and everyone in Cass Corridor and Woodbridge and in between.
He always had cool sunglasses and warm vibes and he always talked about his family.
He was my friend, and I admired him a lot, and I'm so happy he was able to share his gifts with the world.
He was a fantastic musician of course, but he was an even better person.
My condolences.

Sixto Rodriguez, your unique voice was on constant rotation playing in my older sisters bedroom 1979-1980 and I was intrigued. Later I have rediscovered you and sadly did not get a chance to pay tribute to you at a live concert. Your poetry and voice is exquisite, it cuts right through, leaving no doubt about what is important in this life. I´m so grateful to have found your music and have been touched by your generous and insightful soul, thank you

To the Rodriguez ,
I am truly sorry for your loss.
I was touched by his story and by his music. I am so happy that he lived to see his (long awaited) success . I always root for the underdog. Glad he got the recognition he deserved... and I hope his family and friends can proceed in peace knowing he accomplished what he set out to do.

Heartfelt condolences to family and loved ones.

I have loved and adored Rodriguez from afar since first hearing `Cold Fact´ in the early Seventies.

Shared the miracle of seeing him "live" in Wellington (March 2013) and then again in London a few months later.

A remarkable soul who has generated and inspired Such enduring love in this World has now returned to the Source of All that is perfect and pure.

Thank you for your pearls of wisdom and generosity of heart.

I think Sixto will have never understood how profoundly his music inspires memories in the countries that found him to be so amazing. South Africa, Zimbabwe, Australia, New Zealand and the rest. When I hear any song of his, my soul travels to earlier days in my life. Saw you in London and Dublin. All you had to do was strum a chord and the audience would just take over. Loved by so many. Rest in Peace, you are our Elvis and our Madonna.

I just heard of the passing of Mr Rodriguez. Let me say as an Hispanic musician, that he was a big positive influence on me! He was so inspiring to so many and the way he carried himself was incredibly dignified. A true loving and peaceful man. He will be missed by so many! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

We first heard Rodriguez years ago, and were instantly captivated by his smooth, soothing voice and lyrics that were way ahead of their time. There is a lot to unpack in those two CD´S "Coming from Reality" and "Cold Fact".
He was an incredible singer/songwriter and we will not see another like him for a long time. Godspeed Sugarman, and thank you for all that fine music. Dave Andrews (Michigan)

I only came to hear his wonderful music after the release of Searching for Sugarman. My only regret was that I had not heard his albums when originally released. The world was the richer for his presence in it, and is the poorer for his passing. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
