Skylar Brown Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 19 to Jan. 20, 2023.
Skylar Ophelia Brown(37) departed from this world in the early hours of January 16th, 2023. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Brown. She is also survived by her parents Mary and Paul Stirnaman. Finally, she is survived by her siblings Angela (David) Taylor, Beth (Jeff) Strom, Doug (Jenny) Stirnaman, and Kelsey (Tyler) Dahn. She has nieces and nephews whom she adored. She is preceded in death by her nephew Jaxson.

Skylar served her country as a Quartermaster in the United States Navy. She also worked as a navigator on the bridge of the USS Frank Cable. During her time in the Navy, she traveled around the world visiting Japan, Korea, and Guam, and crossed the Prime Meridian. Sometimes, when she went to these places she was one of the people who charted the ship's course and steered it into the harbor. She was a proud veteran.

After her return from the Navy, she attended Rio Hondo College where she studied philosophy. She moved on to a paralegal program at Fullerton College. She was a paralegal for the Law offices of Jerry Staub in 2016. Ultimately, she decided to follow her passions as a musician and attended the School of Rock, Pasadena to further her technical knowledge of music, recording, and performing.

She was married in 2015 to Thomas Michael Brown. She loved him completely. They married at the iconic Wayfarer's Chapel in Palos Verdes, California on Veteran's Day (one of her favorite holidays). She was a joyous bride.

She was an avid animal lover. She had pets of her own; Teddy, Daby, and Tater. She never met a lost pet she would not foster or find a home for immediately.

Skylar is best described as an accumulation of the best parts of the literary heroes from the books she loved so much. She had the rapier wit of Elizabeth Bennet. She possessed the moral compass and quickness of Atticus Finch. She was as magical and caring (also practically perfect in every way) as Marry Poppins, especially to children. The strength, grit, and perseverance of The Unburnt Breaker of Chains, Khalessi.

She cared for everyone she met. She was a great listener and treated everyone as a friend. The absence of her light is felt and missed by everyone it touched. The flame she stoked in others for compassion, patience, joy, true love, and comradery remains. We will all do our best to carry the flames she gave to us.

A private service is to be held for her loved ones. Instead of sending flowers, we ask that you please donate to one of the following organizations:
