Servant of God Well Done! No words can express what Doc meant to me. He came into my life at a time when I was trying to find myself. He helped me navigate through some difficult circumstances. As my mentor he taught me the meaning of ministry. Thanks for everything Doc. May the Badger family find comfort in the Gospel he preached. And one day we will meet never to part.

Rev. S. L. Badger was a towering figure and leader in a community called "Mixon Town" a place where people on the outside, may have viewed us as dejected and small.
Yet on Sunday mornings he would deliver messages of hope and self greatness. The members of Emmanuel Baptist were people of pride in themselves, their Pastor and their God! He was indeed our first Civil Rights leader.Thankyou Family for allowing all of us to share, but most of all thanks for the memories!
My family liived in the shadow of Emmanuel B. Church at 2261 Forest Street and was influenced by it.

Your father was about the last of the great prechers that I grew up under. Many times I played along with the late Bro. Cecil Fisher for the second Sunday services over on Forest Street location. Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church is the church home I grew up in. It touched me to learn that Rev. S.L. Badger had finally gone home to rest. He was truly an inspirational individual and his ministry lives on...His teachings were dynamic and he will forever be remembered.

A valiant soldier has departed our presence. Your father, our wonderful shepherd, has entered into perpetual life. Now we can only imagine what it is like for him but if you look with your mind’s eye and see him today, I know you will experience peace that exceeds your intellectual capacity and joy beyond measure. We thank God for his life and his time on earth with us. We rejoice and celebrate that his absence from this old mortal body points us to his presence with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

My sympathy and love to you all. Know that all you have been taught all your life is true. The Father has planned our life from the day we are born untill we die. I know that your father is where the Lord had reserved for him. My heart is heavy and I will miss him. As I shared with someone recently a sermon he preached on "End Seat Hogs". He stated when people go to the house of The Lord they feel they must sit in the same seat at the end of the row each time they come . He stated that no matter where you were seated The Lord was there so if someone else wanted to sit on the end, move down .The Lord has a sense of humor and may just take those in the middle. This has stayed with me as his way of saying to us all that we are all equal in The Lords eyes and we should always do as he would while on this earth. I will pray for each of you and for my children, ( his grandchildren). May your memories of the joy you had with your dad help you in this time of grift.

I'm the youngest of Elise Lundy's children, I never got the chance to know Uncle Solomon but I've always heard wonderful things about him. I think the last time I saw him, I was in my early teens, perhaps younger. He was a comfort to be around.
