Our deepest sympathies go out to Sophia's family and friends. She was such a ray of sunshine. Her loss is so tragic because she had so much life to live.
She is in our prayers, Gunnar, Ilsa and Lily Johnson

My father retired to Snowmass from Connecticut 40 years ago and I've spent a great deal of time in Colorado skiing but also traveling around the state. Sophia's picture in the Times obituaries caught me and the unusual and candid manner in which her life and family were set out drew me in. I knew what it was like skiing in the Rockies as a young college student-your whole life seemingly ahead of you; at Sophia's age the future indeed must have looked bright. That may be the saving grace here. Sophia apparently had wonderful friends, a caring family and a winning personality. This is simply a monumental tragedy demonstrating why we must treat each other well and realize that collectively we matter to each other. For those who knew Sophia, passing on that special "touch" she obviously had will support the spirit present in the mountains that only she could bring.

We knew Sophia through hearing about her all year from by son Connor, a UC Boulder freshman, and now from your beautiful memorial service. I am from Minnesota, and we have also spent time in the Boundary Waters as a family. Loved how Sophia lived her life in the moment. My son said there wasn't a person she couldn't get a smile out of. Sending you all our love.

I did not know Sophia but I am touched by all the love she had as described in her obituary. My nephew is a freshman at U of Colorado, as was Sophia. I cannot imagine the pain of your loss of Sophia, and wish you solace in remembering the bright star that was Sophia.

You don’t know me I was so very inspired by the New York Times obituary. I was in tears as I read all about Sophia’s amazing life that she led. I’m so very very sorry and saddened by your loss, and the loss for the world at large. May God bless you in comfort.

I knew Sophia through my daughter Ingrid. They were best friends from their summers together at Camp Lake Hubert. It only took a moment to understand the specialness of Sophia. She lighted the room when she walked into our cabin. She even lighted our pontoon boat on a bright, cold mid-October morning on a northern lake. That's the memory I'll keep.

I’m deeply sorry for your loss. Sophia was my daughter’s sorority sister at Chi Omega. I cannot imagine the depth of the pain you are feeling right now but my heart aches for your family and friends. I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you all. That a mom In Connecticut is grieving for your daughter too. May you find peace in all the beautiful memories you have with your beautiful girl. May God bless your family now and help you through your grief. ♥
