Sister Sophie Marie was the one who kept an eye on us at recess, I believe. She was clever and knew how to exercise authority and influenced us. She was one of them that knew how to make the most out of whatever life threw at them.

Hi All,
I too did not have Sister Sophie and have no recollection of her like you guys do. As with any loss it is sad for her family and friends but she is in a better place now and at peace.
Thanks,

I'm another that didn't have Sister Sophie Marie for a teacher but I did have her for a friend. I don't know what else to say so I guess I will sign out.

I would like to thank Sister Sophie Marie for her lifelong dedication to God and the Church. She and the others like her helped mold us in our youth to be what we are today. May she rest in peace and happieness with the Lord. Jim Twombly (Tulsa, OK)

Sister Sophie Marie's dedication to her religious vocation was inspirational through the years to young and old. May she share in the joy of the Risen Lord and intercede for us with the saints in heaven!

Like Bob- I never had Sister Sophie Marie as a teacher- I do remember her with sports the most- one silly memory i have was i had hit a home-run and while rounding 2nd base i ran over their short-stop knocking him to the ground in a cloud of dust and kept going for home. Everyone on their side was on my case over it- and trying to say i was out- she stepped forward and said he's safe!
"The short-stop was in the base line".

It was nice having a nun side with you which didn't seem to happen all that much for me while i was there at Mount Providence. lol If you know what i mean. i guess i was handful at times back then. However, I always liked and seemed to get along with Sister Sophie Marie after that game.

I am sure she will be very missed.

Thank you for sharing your life with us Mt Providence students. You were one of my earliest best influences. I do remember the ball games at recess.

I will forever remember Sister Sophie Marie's kindness and wonderful warmth she bestowed amongst us boarding students on Mount Providence. She was like an extra parent from your home away from home, and always made you feel loved. God Bless.

Although I never had Sister Sophie Marie as a teacher, I spent a lot of qulaity time under her guidance as a boarder at Mount Providence from 1960-1967. She was in charge of our playground activties after dinner and was a sports leader who gave us boarders a chance to play baseball against other schools at a time when Mount Providence had no organized sports teams of any kind. She was a kindred spirit who made us feel loved and needed at a time we were seperated from our parents during the school weeks. She will never be forgotten.

Sister Sophie Marie was my first teacher; she was my kindergarten teacher at Mount Providence. She always greeted you with a great smile. I'm blessed to have started my education with her guiding me along.
