When people speak of someone having a warm glow about them... they are referring to someone like you Stan. Vaughan and I enjoyed a peaceful walk out at picnic lake yesterday and the beautiful blue sky, warm sun and the sparkling, snow laden lake brought thoughts of you.

Oh Avis, I am so sorry. I did not know until this moment that Stan had passed. I didn't even know he was ill. I, like a ton of others, loved him for his gentle, kind heart and fearless tackling of life. My heart is with you. You must miss him so much. Love, Peggy

Dear Boyar family. We are offering our heartfelt condolences to all of your family. We only found out recently of your loss. Stan found a place in our hearts as he visited us on his way to the cottage. He joyfully shared how deeply he loved you all and how very proud he was of his family. We will miss him and his visits with Poco. God Bless.

Dear Avis, Tam, Megan, Anna and extended family,
Our love to you at this time. It is so inspiring to read how Stan touched so many people's lives, in so many different areas, certainly including mine. Lovely to hear Stan's teammate from high school remembering him asking about the beautiful cheerleader, Avis. A kind, gentle, involved, fearless, strong, joyful man piloting the Volkswagen van, with family and friends aboard, down the road to some exciting destination, perhaps having had a small shot of vodka before embarking. We will cherish him forever.
Love from Greg Booth & Linda Kearns, Vancouver

I just heard of Stan Boyar's passing today! 1/11/2015....I live in Virginia. USA. I am deeply saddened by this news. I worked, taught ACLS and played with Stan in the 80's when we all worked in Saudi Arabia at King Fahad Nation Guard Hospital. Stan was like a King to me. He was an incredible Emergency Room Doctor whom I will never forget.
He will be missed my many people from around the world. I pray that one day, way in the future that I will be by his side once again in heaven where I know he must be. RIP great man. Bob

Dear Avis, Tam, Megan and Anna:
We are so sorry to hear about Stan's passing. We met him and your family many years ago when I was a medical student looking to do an elective in China. Stan, along with your whole family were so kind and generous to us during our stay in Shanghai. Although we lost touch over the last few years, we do cherish those memories that we had. Stan was a remarkable physician, husband, father, and human being. We will keep your family in our prayers.
Rest in peace, Stan.

Dear Avis and family,
I was sorry not to be able to attend the funeral as my father died that day...I know Blythe really enjoyed his time in Saudi doing your Palliative care locum--it was a highlight for him!
Working with both of you at the Holy seems like yesterday and yet another lifetime away!
My mother, Ro Skulsky, also sends her sympathy as she really enjoyed working with Stan (as Dr Grainger's nurse)

Dear Avis, Tam, Megan, Anna and extended family
Our most sincere condolences to all who loved and cherished Stan. We met Stan and Avis in Saudi Arabia in about 85' and we were so happy to meet this wonderful family. Stan was so much fun and so kind - he certainly had a twinkle in his eyes and a contagious smile. I'm so sorry that we haven't been in contact for the last few years, what we missed can't be recovered. We always loved Stan's Christmas cards, so creative. I have fond memories of Stan and Tim lounging in their Galabias (sp) (from Egypt). Tim
and I pray for peace for your family and that you will be
comforted. Cherish the beautiful memories I know we will.
Love you, Tim and Barbara Vawter

Dear Avis and family,
My Dad introduced me to Stan. Even though I worked for Stan, he gave me so much more in return. I looked forward to interesting, inspiring conversations over a cup of coffee or freshly-squeezed citrus every time I came out to work in your yard. His great perspective on life was refreshing, and his support in my early years of entrepreneurship will always mean a great deal to me. Last time I saw him, he gave me a book to read, and I think he would be happy to know that I did my homework. Warm thoughts to you all in this time of loss ~Courtney

Dear Avis and Tam, Megan & Anna,
When I first met Stan back in 2005, the first thing that caught my attention was his warm, welcoming smile and firm handshake. It soon became clear that this was a person that I just liked from the start. Although business was the catalyst for our introduction, over the years as we met-up annually or sometimes semi-annually, what I always looked forward to were the interesting and thought provoking conversations we'd have. I considered Stan a friend. He was a man with a kind heart, a wonderful sense of humour and a gentle soul who embraced life to the fullest. Part of our talks would always touch on our families as we brought each other up-to-date. The pride and love he carried for each of you shone through like a twinkle in his eyes. His Everything!
My deepest condolences go out to each of you on the loss of the husband, the father, and the friend that was Stan. Cherish the Memories. My thoughts are with you. He is missed...

Dear Avis and family,
I was so sad to hear of Stan's passing. I met Stan and yourself at UofC med school. He was always so warm and open. It was a tribute to you both that your marriage was strong enough to withstand training in different provinces. His dedication to doing good was always evident. I shall miss him.
Heartfelt regards to you and your family,

Our most sincere sympathy to you Avis and all your children, in the loss of your dear Stan. We always looked forward to seeing him arrive once the weather in White River warmed up - he was like our sign of "spring". And that's truly what he was... A kind, gentle man that had a special glow and warmth that he naturally radiated. His visits will be greatly missed by so many White River folks, although his smile and caring nature will always remain in our thoughts.
With love & prayers,

I met Stan in 1966 in the initial year of the Grade 13 school, Hamilton Collegiate Institute but, with our diverse paths and geography, unfortunately have seldom seen him since. I confirm that all the kind words about Stan in the Guest Book were absolutely true as a high school senior - he was fun, fearless and joyful. I got to know Stan best as teammates on the HCI basketball team. Early in the season, while we were sitting on the bench (of course we were both "starters" so that was quite memorable in itself), I definitely saw a twinkle in Stan's eye when he asked me the name of the gorgeous blonde cheerleader across the court. No surprise here, it was Avis! I am pleased that Stan and Avis had a wonderful, fulfilling life and family together, as citizens of the world. I am so very sad to hear of Stan's passing and my thoughts are with Avis and the family and wish them all the very best.

Dear Avis and Family,
Stan was such a stellar guy with a smile that embraced everyone. Always open to new possibilities, his joy of life shone through in that smile. May all the memories of your interesting life together help sustain you.

Avis, Tam, Megan and Anna,
I'm so sad to hear that Stan the man is no longer with us. Stan and you welcomed me so warmly and looked out for me on my arrival to Alberta as Greg's little sister. I remember happy ski excursions (getting lost in the woods or climbing up steep bowls) in search of powder with Stan in the lead - it was never just a normal ski-run with him. Also great hikes and tennis games, and I loved having you as my first landlord at 720. Stan really "saw me", which was sometimes unnerving, but always good. He was both wise and mischievous.
I'll be thinking of you all on Friday - there will be a lot of love in that church. I hope that that love provides some comfort as you move forward with your lives.
love Karen
